The recline mechanism broke on my pass seat one time while taking off. That was quite funny.

dunno if it would have been funny on the drivers seat. I think I would need to clean the brown mark off later that night Laughing

Early in my Navy days, a Machinist on my first boat had built up a what I recall as a 400 for his Anniversary Trans-Am (Gold on Gold). After he got it tweaked and dialed in, he launched in an empty parking lot and promptly ended up in the back seat. Scared him enough to sell the car. I hated to see that car go away, it was a beauty.

You know I do need new seats for mine, and thought about asking if any one had some extra seats in their closet or pantry or some place like that but though nah no one would have seats in the closet next to the towels. Shocked

Lol, you just came up with a new scene for the "F&notsoF" trilogy Very Happy

By the way, I have always wondered if I am the only to ever have driven a car sitting on a bucket or on the floor. Any one else ever been imaptient and " just drove it around the block" with out a seat?

And when i was first leaving the upholstery shop after dropping the seats,
I gave it some pedal to get into traffic...Oh Dude...the chair folded up, with
my butt stuck in it...scared the yack out of me at the time...but now i am
almost in tears laughing about that...thanks for the memories.

I got one better than that! In High School auto shop, myself and various students swaped a remaned 22R engine into the teachers '81ish Toyota pick-up, we fired that thing up and had to go for a spin! But there was no interior... I looked around and found an old bald tire to sit on! lol
It wasn't easy with the 4 speed and sitting so high up! Then when I fell in, I couldn't see over the dash... Rolling Eyes

I do recall jumping in the firebird afterwards and it drove like a brand new cadillac! Laughing

Got you all beat. I had been working on my 64 malibu SS then had to move. So had to load the incomplete car up and bring it out here. When I say incomplete the car was completely stripped. I had cut the top off the car and had the floorboards out as well. So there was no place to even put a bucket. Doors were off. So I put a 2x6 across from one door sill to the other. Since the car was a floor shift, and there was obviously no floor.. I had to reach down to the transmission itself and shift it out of park into drive. Was kinda fun though! Laughing
