I have owned my 87 IROC since 1991 and have always wanted to install a larger wheel. The problem I kept running into was that the rims I liked ( Fikse) always seem to retail for more than the car is worth. I found these rims on SLP's website, direct fit for a 3rd gen, 17" x 8" with center caps for 599.00 for a set of four.
What do you guys think?

I also ordered a set of chromed rims for my wifes IROC convertible. SLP was out of stock on those, they should be here the 2nd week in August. |

Thanks man. I just need to find a reason to buy tires now
I promised my wife that I would'nt run out and spend money on tires, so for now they will be taking up room in the garage next to the 195 AFR heads and HSR for her car. When the new AFR's go on my car it wont be long before there will be a legit reason to purchase 17" tires
The next upgrade for my car will be larger brakes, hence the larger rims. |

Thanks guys, opinions on rims are as subjective as paint colors.
SLP's site is down right now, but this site has the same rims for the same price. Not that I want to see every 3rd gen in town with these , but it is a dam good deal. All you need are the lugnuts and tires.

What were they asking for them?
They look silver under direct sunlight, then turn dark gray as light diminishes. |

Those wheels look great! Good designs just never go out of style. Buy right.... and buy once.
I'd suggest a 10 inch wide rim for the rear, if possible. I was shocked how tiny the 17x9 looked on the back of my car (non-ground effects Firebird). Ground effects will help balance the size and make them look wider. |

| yea, 8" wide rims look tiny without rubber on them. SLP advertised that these rims have the correct backspacing and no need for shims. I measures them and all four rims have the same backspacing. It doesnt appear that they will rub, but I was hopeing for a different offset front to rear. |
