I feel my neck getting redder.. and a mullet growing in! Laughing
Been working on my 2nd gen formula. It's a 74, with a 2barrel 400/th400. I got it from a member here, I no longer remember their name or if they even come back at all now. Anyway, here's some pics of the work from this weekend.

The aformentioned 2barrel.. and accompanying point ignition. HEI was available this year but this car wasnt equipped.

The grungy old motor with the intake removed. I'm not sure how long this thing will run. Hopefully through the summer at least, but the compression was good.

A pic with the lifter cover removed. The cam looks to be in good shape. Lifter valley is so open I can even look down and see a piston skirt! Laughing

Some people say the current LS motors are derived from the old pontiacs. Things like port shape and the 14* valve angle are similar. Also the LS designations used to be used for pontiac motors. Here's a view down a couple ports, with the valves plain to see. 2 barrel poncho heads had 1.96/1.66 valve sizes. 4 barrel got 2.11/1.77

Starting to button her up with some fresh paint. Pontiacs were blue, but these later motors are very difficult to get the right color. I'm just using corporate blue on this one. The original factory color is a darker blue that was sprayed over a lighter blue that was used on the earlier cars. Neither of which are the same blue that was used in the 60s.

There are alot of cool engineering in a pontiac. Here the pic shows the little orange locator button that holds the intake gaskets in place. No glue or sealant needed.

A pic of the factory 4 barrel intake I picked up at the swap meet for $50. It's heavy but according to what i've been reading not too many aftermarket manifolds actually beat its performance. Notice that its an "airgap". It's also quite tall!

Speaking of tall, things are starting to stack up under the hood. Shocked
This also shows the edlebrock quad I had leftover. Used to use it on the 87

Not quite done, but shows the new HEI and giant alternator I got from the junkyard. If you had ac and rear defrost you got this monster. Also shows the old summit wires I saved off the 87. As you can see, doing this cheap as possible.

Some rubber perhaps? Me thinks I may need a set of Skyjackers! Laughing I've got a new set of 15x8 centerlines I'm going to run, but no money for tires. But I do have a few tires I took off my truck. 275/60/r15s.. a bit monstrous! Very Happy So a pair of them will go on the back. I think I have a pair of 215s to use on the front for awhile.

How bout a small vid from last cows? I've got some brake and front end work to do. One door is full of bondo, but i've got a replacement. One fender has some rust, allready have a replacement for that too. Interior is disassembled. I will probably end up just priming it, bolting it together and driving this year.

Spoiler or air dam? or am I forgetting something lol. The rear spoilers almost 6" high! The front chin piece is sitting in the barn somewhere.. sides thats not a spoiler. Wink

I keep looking at that intake port pic. Those sure are smooth ports for as cast arent they?

Thought it didn't have a rear spoiler. Can't see it in the pic anyway.
