I am trying to put an exhaust system together for my wifes 1990 IROC convertible and have a couple of snags.
#1 - I picked up a set of Edelbrock headers and Y pipe today for cheap. They have never been used but are painted flat black. I would like to have them ceramic coated. Anyone know a place to get this done cheap? Eventualy the EB's will get swapped out for a set of SLP SS headers so I dont want to ty up more than 100.00 for ceramic coating EB's.
#2 - The Borla cat back I purchased doesnt have the correct angle on the pipe that connect to the "out" side of the cat. Should have about a 30* angle. The peice of pipe that looks like it should connect to the cat is a 2 1/2" slip fit also. Should have had a ball flange on it.
So in short, I have the parts that would complete the exhaust system from the cat forward, but need a custom 3" SS peice with a ball flange on it to attach the cat to the Borla cat back.
Anyone know a local shop that can make this peice?
On a side note, I purchased two Y pipes from SLP, they were blowing out all of their 3rd gen stuff. They discontinued the pipe that attaches to the drivers side header and snakes around the oil pan to the actual Y pipe. There is a set SS SLP headers on TGO for a fair price but doesnt come with the drivers side down pipe. I would prefer to install the SLP headers but cant see paying what the guy is asking then paying a shop to built the one down pipe that would complete the system. Anyone have a SLP drivers side down pipe laying around?
I would trade the EB headers, down pipe, Y pipe and cash for a used set of SLP's at this point. |

They were recomended by Airport welding, never heard of them before today.
I sent an email to Borla asking if they sell the correct parts to make their cat back fit a stock exhaust. I am hoping they sack up and send me what they should have in the first place. This post is for a plan "B". I cannot believe Borla charges what they do and then expect some one to spend another couple of hundred to make it fit up. The SLP cat back fit perfectly on my 87. |

Just down the street from Stan's Headers is Performance Coatings. You can see Stan's sign from their parking lot. They do an excellent job of ceramic coating (inside and out).
