Ok so heres what new plan is for Hell Beast. (if you guys care) We(my moms boyfreind and me) are gonna take all the inter. out and rip out the wires. We are gonna than rewire it to be like an older car. No more of this computer stuff. Than we are gonna hopefully replace it with a bigger motor maby 350 or 400. Than the fun part gonna pu tit all back togeather. hopefully she will be done in a couple years other than that im gonna be a lame person and help pay off my moms 97 chereke sport so i have something to drive. if anyone has any ideas what else i should do or a cheaper way so im not going over budget Laughing or if anyone would like to help a day here or there im fine wit that to but thats my plans for Hellbeast

You dont need to rip out the inside to remove the ecm stuff from the car.

Just part of the dash, and the underhood harness.

ECM harness is mostly seperate from the chassis harness.

I would leave it intact until you find the new motor. That is, unless you like disabling cars with no forseeable return to service. Don't start projects you can't finish.

And ya, GM has a nice engine harness that can be pulled out seperate of the chassis harness. If the car is carbureted you can just pull that harness out and be done. Maybe get another engine harness from a carbureted car so you still retain some stock look.

Ripping out ALL the wiring is unnecessary. As Blue89 said, the CC Q-jet cars have a harness that is stand-alone from the rest of the wiring in the car. Just figure out what goes to the ECM and cut or remove them.

I have minimal wiring in the engine bay.

Thumbs down

Corey, take it from a guy who just finished rewiring an entire car: it's not something you just go around doing. You will spend several hundred dollars on wire, connectors, and solder alone. Your car will be out of commission for a month or two, and you'll be looking at hours of work in very confined and uncomfortable spaces. You can avoid all of that by simply bypassing whatever you don't need.
