Just got this in the mail yesterday! It is the Summit scoop. They brought in the Mr Gasket scoop at the parts store last weekend so I could look at it. When you compare the Summit scoop to it the Summit scoop is much cheaper built. The plates are square instead of round (big woop) and i don't know if the Mr Gasket had this problem, but the shaft for the plates had no side/side limit. This caused the plates to rub and catch on the sides of their openings. Also, the plate shaft rubs on the divider front plate. So I made some washers to eat up the side/side play in the plate shaft and used a file to clearance things a little. Works perfect!

It sits in there really nice and level with where the hood will be. That's one thing the Summit one has on the Mr Gasket. The Mr Gasket has a 6" cast aluminum riser. The Summit scoop only has a 1/2" bent metal bracket to provide mounting holes and a spot for the filter. So if you have a truck, go Mr Gasket. Have a car, go Summit.

That car is going to look mean. I can't wait to pass it on the road this summer. I know I will, I like to be up north more than south.

BAD ASS!!!

Travis, I think you probably have the only car that can pull that off without looking completely redneck. Thumbs up

Do you know who makes the Summit brand? I have completely sworn off Mr. Gasket crap. Every single product I have ever bought from them has been junk. Every single one.

When i get some lower gears in the back I'll drive it around. I've been trying to cut the hole in my new hood since wednesday but I simply cannot find the time.

I just got an edelbrock performer RPM air-gap intake too which will raise it up. I like it though. Looks mean.

Looking very good. I should take a road trip up north when you get that car on the street.

Make sure you leave enough room on the sides of the hole so that when you torque that monster over, it doesn't bend your hood.

It does look mean though!

I won't know what color it will be until I go down and get the paint. Seriously. So many good colors out there! I cut the hole with a cutoff wheel (weapon of choice Wink ) and a sawz-all. I only used the sawz-all to do the last bit of corners and the skeleton under the hood. The edge is very smooth but I'll use some 1/8" vacuum line to keep the scoop from being scratched. I have enough room to barely be safe from the engine moving around but once I put the engine torque brace on that will all go away.

And the new intake

I'm using a 1" spread/square carb adapter right now, so the new intake should only raise it another inch or so which will unshrowd the front of the scoop. The back will still be under the hood a little.

I like the GTA's but I'd like something wider and bigger. They are super light and an awesome autocross wheel but I'd trade them for some wagon wheels or something. Four 17x10's or or 18x10's.

I think you're going to start a new craze. Hood scoops with BBC in third gens. All I've seen is hood cowls, but this scoop makes it look meaner.
