News is reporting that GM is killing off Pontiac. Not a whole lot of info about it yet. _________________

I'm going to get ripped for this one......
They want to get rid of duplicate models, ok thats fine. Why do they not get rid of GMC, or the Chevy line of trucks and just have all trucks as GMC? They claim GMC is a money maker, ok...
But if they have want to get rid of duplicate line ups, I see nothing more duplicate then them 2. Only difference I see is grill, and sometimes the rims. _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

Quoted For Truth. I always thought GMC was a redundant division. I'm sure the only reason why Buick has been spared the axe, is because they sell a lot of them in Asia.
Why not get rid of the AutoVAZ (formerly Lada) division in Eastern Europe? Basically all they do is re-badge Opel models.
Guess they're also talking about a 9 week layoff for assembly line workers to cut costs this summer.
I'm sure they'll file chapter 11 just like Chrysler. _________________

Ideally, I'd like to see Pontiac live on forever, but I don't think that would financially benefit them. I say keep Chev for light duty trucks (just make them the luxotrucks that GMC usually is) and medium/large cars; keep GMC for medium duty lines; keep caddy for the old cushy rides; drop saturn, buick, pontiac and bring holden as micro-cars and fleet rides. _________________

| I don't mind. My car will become more valuable in another 10 years. And I wasn't going to buy anything from them anyway. |

I heard that a large number of independant saturn dealers are moving to susead saturn from gm and establish it as a stand alone manufacturer. basing it in Sweden I think... _________________

I'll be kinda sad to see it go, but they really haven't made anything to "exciting" in the last couple years...
GTO's and G8's are cool but they never caught on...
Solstice's are... Almost cool... I guess.
On a good note, I see that CARR Chevy in Beaverton has a brand-new black Camaro out front! _________________

For Us Solid Bird-Men...It is truly a sad time!
I got a call from an inside source with GM and he told me it's done!
It made me sick...and pissed
As I tour the local GM show room, and look at all of the overpriced vehicles, it's no freaking wonder...

Well so much for the new TA, i had my coin ready to go on that one!
I do like the new camaro, so perhaps that is the one to invest in.
I will keep the Shark, it has brought so many good times!
Still a bummer on the Pontiac outlook! _________________

| Notice that pontiac was the 3d biggest seller last year. Yet they pull the plug. |
