Well there is this valve on the Mazda's Carb called the "shutter" or "deceleration" valve. When it goes bad it causes a huge vacuum leak and causes some drivability problems. Like the ones I'm having. Rather than replacing the $99 valve only to replace the whole Carburetor soon for the turbo... I decided to bypass it. Along with giving California a big Bang bang Thumbs down

So here is what it started with. Mind you I already removed the A/C which freed up alot of space.

Still a few odds and ends to take care of/tidy up as usual.

And even though the Exhaust manifold is still there.... a quick Turbo Test Fit. TONS of room. Way easier than the Chevette would have been.

It's got the cooling system too. Got to keep those hydrocarbons from overheating. Very Happy

Only had the camera phone but took a picture of the Intercooler Test Fit. It's like it was bred to mount there! Plus it fills the giant hole.

Hey Paul what are your goals for this? My friend and I are going to do a second gen rx7 build this summer. Kinda going in a different direction but still a rx7 project non the less. Just wondering if you had any 1/4 mile goals or power goals on it. The one I will be working on will be piston powered with a little bottle to help her along. LOL

My only goal is to go faster than a Cobalt! LOL

Just fun with Turbo and paint and stuff. The Camaro is the "race car."

Thats cool. We are going the opposite on our build. The rx will be a "race car". Our goal's are to be in the 11's on nitrous with a ls1 or maybe a ls2/t56 combo. Then next year with our tax returns we plan on doing I/H/C/E and a bigger shot and see what we can do. Sounds like your project is going to be fun. I cant wait to start mine.

If you do it right, you wont need nitrous for 11's. Guy locally runs an LS1/T56 with street tires he's low 12's without fuss, in a 2nd gen 7.

Rear end is the weak link there though.

Ya from what I have read about that there are guys using stock rears up to the 10's Shocked Ya. And Ya I know the goal should be easy but our goal will be to keep up with my 636 to start with. Then after moding the lsx I want it to stay with his 07 zx10. Very Happy
