This was parked at the trail head where I took the dog for a walk late this morning. The Dept of Defense sticker on the windshield says the owner is a Navy Captain or Marine Colonel, so he has a bit of money Laughing

Nice to see a vehicle like this in such good condition. Not the best quality as I took these on my phone.

The grille is obviously Jeep and the emblems on the B-pillar also say Jeep. I've never seen one like it before either.

Yep, I found the same article. Been looking at other sites about it since. This one is the FC-150 with the shorter wheel base of 81" and a 78" bed (6'6"). This guy has some nicer modern accessories for his.

Other interesting stuff about how versatile it was. Instead of the pickup bed, other "accessories" which were Jeep approved could be added for other duties - tow truck, fire truck, covered bed.

Apparently, due to the cabover design, they tend to be very front-heavy and have a 750lb counterweight behind the rear axle. Unloaded, you could stand one on its nose with hard braking Shocked

Laughing When I first glanced at the pic you posted, the first thing that went though my mind was doing exactly that in it.

It does look like a Mog, only much smaller.

They're built on the regular jeep chassis. So they're very short. They also had excellent front visibility, so made good snow plows. Somewhere there's a picture of one made into a log truck. Thats a real scary thought, because they still used the jeep 4cylinder of the time.

I would think the FC-170 would be better suited for logging with the longer wheel base (103") and 6 cylinder motor.
