For awhile now I've been thinking about doing a ground effects delete on the IROC. The stripped-down Formula look has really been growing on me; something like this maybe:

However I really hate the pop-ups, interiors, and spoilers on Pontiacs (no offense guys), and I already have a Camaro, so I was thinking something like these:

I would of course retain a spoiler, and probably build some sort of setup to keep my dual snorkel. I might even keep the IROC decals just to mess with people. Very Happy

Thoughts? Flames? Am I crazy? Headed straight to hell for even considering this?

I think there is something there. I like the look a little bit. If I wasn't into the GFX style I'd like those. Still better than a fur bird Razz

I dont like the spoiler on our cars. While fixing my fender, Ive been trying to figure out a way to delete the spoiler (its not as easy on a vert).

I dont like the scooped gfx, but then the flats are to "sharp" on that bottom ridge. So maybe customs are in order for me?

Now, if you have a massive motor, you sure can make the car a base model sleeper Razz

im not a fan of the spoiler on the verts maybe a 91-92 z28 spoiler would look better on a vert. plus iv never seen one

I'm not familiar with vert spoilers, but can't you just pop it off and weld the holes?

I personally hate em without gfx. but that's just me. they look like they are jacked way up in the air and do not retain the aggressive look that i love about these cars. no gfx + big gaughty hood = Confused

But then again thats why i went through all the trouble of putting GFX ON my car Very Happy

I think the no graphics car look more like a muscle car personally. I think they need some 15 inch five spoke wheels and they can look great. The graphics cars look more like a sports car.

Whatever his name is on TGO, mw66nova or something, has a decent looking camaro; like Chris'. I used to never really like the no-gfx look. I wouldn't actively pull the gfx off your car but if you bought one it'd look pretty cool with a slight rake, wide rear tires and the hawks 5" spoiler.

I take it back, Paul. They look pristine white from the time you wash them, through the car show, and then right up until the burnout contest.

I dont even like the coupe spoilers, let alone the verts.

And no, you cant just pop it off and weld holes(there are no holes). The deck lid and cover lid sit about 1/2 inch higher then the top of the fender. You would have to "pie cut" a fender, and weld in a patch panel. Then weld in a patch panel for the "dent" for the 3rd light in the deck lid. Plus there is some really crappy looking body work that the spoiler hides. They just hammer over the fender and weld it to a custom vert frame.

I'll post some pics in the next few days.

lol, I knew my name would come up somewhere in this.

Everyone's got an opinion on this aaron. Ultimately its your car, so its up to you what you want to do with it.

I personally like the stripped down (i.e. sleeper) look, although I do also appreciate a good looking IROC or GTA.

actually the second picture you have posted, is kind of how I'd like my car to sit and look, nice low stance with either IROC wheels or Black Crosslaces.

lmao, wanna trade bumpers, Chris?

That white '85 is actually what first inspired me to start thinking about stripping it. I actually found that dudes car while looking for pics of other Mercury Montereys.

So I guess I'm not the only guy with an f-body and a big block Merc. Very Happy

haunting...his engine bay looks like mine. But my valve covers and intake are taller!

my only complaint about the base model stuff is the three slits in the nose.

When (and if) I get my car painted, I'd like to fill those in.

I was thinking the exact same thing, although they are kinda growing on me.

About halfway down that page theres a guy that filled in the holes on the earlier (larger hole) bumper.
