I guess I'm too used to the talented people on this site, Jeep forums, and diesel truck forums where people actually know something about vehicles. I joined a Subaru Forester forum and they are a bunch of dumb nuts.
Some guy posts about how hard it is to change the oil filter. Now I'll admit that it is in a real stupid location and impossible to remove by hand. But there are 2 pages of people sticking screw drivers though it or mashing it with channel lock pliers, even showing pictures of what a channel lock plier looks like. This is the best advice they got??? I told him to get the $5 nylon strap with the 3/8 drive socket.
Another guy posted a complaint that snow is packed in the wheels and causing them to be unbalanced. Again, people saying rub vaseline all over the wheel, spray oil on it, wax. Uh.... poke the snow out of the wheels, pansie. Better yet, just drive for a mile.
Oh, man! It just hurts reading that stuff!

Yeah, some of the forums are amazing. There are a couple of Audi forums filled with idiots. I found one Audi forum full of real gear heads, that do some amazing projects. Maybe look around for some other scubie forums where the users are a little more educated.

The internet is just a massive meeting of the dumbest people in the world.
At least it seems that way because the most ignorant seem to be the most vocal. _________________

Brandy has a friend in town who works at a Subaru stealership. She says they call the "Forester" the "Lesbaru." _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I can totally see that in the Portland/Vancouver area!
Here in the midwest Subaru cars are not very common. But now that I think about it we don't have many lesbians either. |

..but isn't it just an electric motor that actuates the mechanical lock?
I have a pontiac transport van in my driveway thats been sittin for a year or so, battery is deader than dead and the darndest thing, I can still lock and unlock doors. BTW anyone want a transport with 3.8 engine let me know |

| If you have a key lock then you can open the door. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to get into the car if your battery died. The electric locks are operated with a solenoid. Some doors, such as the rear hatch, might be operated with a solenoid only. So if you wanted something out of the back of the vehicle you might have to crawl through from the front. |

Have you seen ultimatesubaru.org?
I just got an old 80's Turbo GL Wagon, and that is the place to be.
Don't know for sure about the newer ones, but it's worth a look.
Hilarious threads by the way... Thanks for sharing. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

I met Jamie a few times, her site is a good path to the local scene. She runs a local Engineering firm
Single, featured in Hot Rod, what more do you need?
symmetrical 4wd. It works well

| Jamie is pretty cool. She has known my friend Luke for a long time, I met her a couple of times a few years back when Luke and I went to the rally races in Tillamook. |
