Tonight I ran over a very large chunk of ice at 65 mph with the Subaru Forester. It really slammed the underside of the car and the whole front jumped as though I hit the biggest pot hole of my life.

Instantly the car felt different. There is a slight vibration that can be felt by seat of the pants. Kind of the same vibration as a Chevy on a good day. Very Happy It's too friggin cold to do anything about it right now. And I'll bet the problem is so subtle that the dealer can't find it and just blows my money randomly replacing parts on the front end. And to think that I was just going to pay it off this month! No no no...

I have an extended warranty but I'll bet it doesn't cover road damage.

Good news. This falls under collision insurance. Smile I'm not lifting a finger on this job! Nice outcome considering it was -15F this morning with -40F wind chill.

Well, I was completely wrong. Didn't cost me a penny. But the dealer didn't find anything wrong either. Fortunately I have 2 years to find any problems before the insurance claim closes. So for now we wait.

Maybe an ice chuck got lodged in the wheel and caused the vibration? Who knows. As long as it stays away I'm fine.

Car still has the same ice on the hood from a week ago. Been kind of cold here. Shocked

It's tempting to move back but I'd rather keep my awesome job even if it means living in the midwest. You're probably too new to the group to know that I'm an engineer at Caterpillar. Dream job with a dream company. Smile Life is good.... but the landscape is flat. Laughing

It's still a hell of a lot better than living down south! Right, Demon??? Very Happy (Hoping he's lurking somewhere near)
