I just got here from TGO. People had only good things to say so I thought why not join. So...I live in Battle Ground, Wa which is northish from Vancouver, Wa. I'm currently a sophomore going to BG High. I got my car back in September of this year. It's a 85 Z28 that I found on craigslist (I love that place). The people wanted $900 for it but I got them down to $750 with my bargaining skills Razz

. It probably helped that it has a horrible paint job and didn't run at the time. It had been sitting in the same spot for 3 years!! All I did was charge the battery (which surprisingly was still good) and it fired right up! The master cylinder was bad though so I replaced that. It has the 700r4 and a 305 with the Holley carburetor I put on it. The first mod I did was make the hood louvers functional. That was time consuming but very interesting. And I can still mount up the stock ones if I want but the engine temp. went down about 20 degrees so I doubt that will happen. Coming up in the near future is a t-56 swap. If you have parts, advice, or can lend a hand then feel free to pm or email me. I already have the tranny but thats it. And I'm considering putting a locker or at least a limited slip in the rear end. If you have a reason I shouldn't do that then please let me know.

Its almost like having a Camaro is in my blood. My mom and both uncles had 2nd gen. Camaros. My aunt ended up getting a trans am, she was the well behaved one lol. Thanks I'm glad you like them. Some people suggested that I paint the screws flat black too. But I'm not sure about that.

You heard it right, the members here are awesome folks! You can post away with questions, pics, no rocks thrown! it's all good. You are not far away, several of us live in Portland / Metro / Vancouver.
1 member was willing to drive from Bremerton WA to help me with a door panel!
another group just finished helping a member with a major motor project, and it was successful!!!
That is how these folks are!

Yea I just finished reading about that motor. Sucks that it happened but its cool that people are so willing to help. That's like the Model A club I'm in. Their awesome about helping each other out. That's one thing I forgot to put in the post, I'm restoring my grandfather's first car, a 1930 Model A pickup.

Yea its actually not in that bad of shape. It has monetary and sentimental values. Fully restored they are worth at least 15 grand.

What year car did the t56 come out of? That will dictate what you'll need to do/buy to swap it in. That was the best mod I did for my bird. Well, so far. Smile

The date codes say that it was made between 94 and 97 so I'm assuming it's the Lt-1 style.

Welcome to the crew. A good number of the current membership started here in their teens and there are a few high schoolers in the mix currently.

Keep your eyes open on the gathering board. We have several 'major' gatherings each year where members from all over the great Pacific Northwest gather together for fun but also have smaller local gatherings as the mood strikes.

Ian... so far he thinks it's an LT1 T56.... So he'll need 4th gen Master/Slave clutch getup, 4th Gen Bellhousing for it, 4th gen clutch and flywheel and fork.

I don't know about which pedal he'll need.

The LT1 T56 swap is definitely the more spendy swap of the two!

Ya I did all the louvers by hand. It wasn't really hard but it took a long time to cut the aluminum. I'm glad I did it though cus now the engine runs cooler.

I've always wanted my car to have a manual. But this car was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. I'm glad I didn't. My mom doesn't think I should do the swap, but since when do teens listen to their parents Laughing

. It'll be awesome once I get it done. But I need more off a cash flow lol.

I was having an acceleration problem with my car. It was like the accelerator pump wasn't working right. But today me and my friend got a different power valve and checked the jets. The problem ended up being that the last person had put the squirter for the accel. pump on backwards lol. So they fuel wasn't spraying into the carb like it should. It would hit the side of the venturis and dribble down. But we fixed that so we're gonna go take a joy ride. After lunch of course.
