				| She's alive!
Finished buttoning everything up earlier today. Got her timed and took her for a ride to seat the rings.

I have to admit I got butterflys in the tummy each time I took the RPMs up. When the rod failed it wasn't as dramatic as I thought it would be but the sick feeling in the stomach was as much drama as I need for a while.

Anyway, got the new exhaust, fresh transmission and brand new engine. Life is good!

Thanks again Brandon, Paul and John for all your help.

				| Hey Mike sounds great! and i'm glad you weren't needing any serious rolaids!! Nothing like a motor issue to get the gut in a
twist, along with the blood pressure spike! No worries on this one!
can't wait to see that bad girl roll! stop by if you are in the Hood.

				| Yo Mike, i just noticed that really is a Big Ass Hood...But it is bad to the bone! and i like it! The angle you took the pic from is perfect to show that Big Ass Hood. NICE! I think i may have a case of hood envy...LOL...

				| BTW Mike, you went with the same type of Eagle rods you had before? Did you ever figure out why the first one went out, beyond just being a random fluke? | |

I'm not Mike, but I can answer. No, the first motor has Eagle forged I-Beams. This new motor has forged H-Beams. You know, fix the weakest link and all that.

Combo is almost identical except stronger rods and 6" instead of 5.7. Also standard bore. So technically it is not a 383 any longer but it is a stroked 350 so close enough
  .
I expect power to be about the same. Might lose a little up top due to the smaller exhaust. We will see.

Think I will go for a nice drive tomorrow if it isn't too nasty out.

Why the switch? I've heard of guys doing that to increase quench so they can run higher compression (or cheaper gas
). Are you thinking of running a bigger shot with it or something? | |

Quench stays the same. Dwell changes, so the speed of the piston slows down as it approches TDC and BDC. It has an effect on some other stuff too, but then we would get into a major physics lesson.
