So I'm using the TPI dual snorkle. I noticed I am getting quite a bit of radiator heat soak. So I'm looking at these "ram air" boxes to make sure I get some cold air. Other then buying the hawks one.. or some home-depot rigged up crap.. anyone got some ideas?
Now that I have slp runners on this thing. I need to port match my base to these as it looks as if it actually REMOVED some of my VE . I looked at the port kits summit sells and it appears most are just dremel looking bits. Seems like alot of work for mr dremel. If I order something, I need it to be here and project complete before the 12th. Any suggestions?
Any place that sells JUST the rear seat re-cover kits so I can redo my rear seat to match my front 92-firebirds. _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

Maybe its breathing so well now that you're intake is the limit? Everyone told me that the factory dual snorkle would have limited my LT1. You might try to make the ghetto fabulous Home Depot sewer pipe intake to see what changes. Worst case you'll have a nice CAI templete to have someone fab one up from steel or aluminum. _________________ E30

Id love to make a 4" CAI, but either side I run it to for air via behind fender.. I'm screwed.
I know I dont drive it in the rain that much, but I dont like the idea of my filter being a few inches off the ground for air. |

| Do what tony did with his V6 car. I think he drilled a hole in the battery tray and mounted the air filter right under it. You won't suck up stuff any more than the factory baffle. |

| I saw No difference in Manifold Air Temp with a CAI setup vs the Dual Snorkel. |

Thanks twilight. Where is your filter at?
Travis. I dont want to cut any holes. Also, both trays are being used. Otherwise I would just duct over to that side and build an airbox. |

That's the problem with cold-air on the Camaros. The passenger-side battery gets in your way. If you don't want to relocate your battery and cut holes, you're probably not going to end up with much of a CIA.
Paul's setup is badass though. If I ever get around to relocating my battery I'm ripping his idea off. |

maybe he could link me to some pics. But my chassis is already weak enough with rust. I could build an airbox over the charcole(sp) canister. But then no place to put my filter.
I'm thinking about making a fiberglass version of Hawks setup this winter.
Any suggestions on the porting or seats? |

Port matching seems kind of a no win to me. There usually enough wiggle room in the bolts that when you mount stuff up, it's not going to line up the way you spent 40 hours to get right.... anyway.

| I know I can do better then it is. The stock base is to be less then 1.47. The new runners are 1.6'ish. I know I can get it closer then that. But I agree, wiggle room will never allow to be perfect. |

You should be able to... I just checked though, and I think I jacked up the attachment stuff. I probably won't be able to fix that until monday morning though.

Keep in mind my IAT sensor is on the bottom side of the plenum. I feel it's going to be the most accurate measurement of incoming air. The only place you might notice a cooling would be under cruise or WOT but even then the snorkel will get fresh air too because of the air movement.
I know the dual snorkel is good for over 300HP because I dynoed at like 315, pulled it off and lost 5 HP! |

Ok. My IAT is in the dual snorkle. When driving and I know the outside temp was 89deg. I was reading 95. Stop at a light and in less then 30sec it spiked to 97 and was quickly rising.
According to my 1/8mile times, I'm around 280hp?? Althought it doesnt really feel like it. My goal is 300hp. |

But how much torque are you making?
I just noticed that the IAT is in the plenum on my friends firebird. Is it worth it to move it to the intake tube? |
