Even if it's just liability... it's her fault.

adequate? even if she has $500 worth of liability coverage it will be adequate to cover the value of that truck.Wink the minimum liability coverage in Oregon is $100K. she is liable so it should be covered.

Still her fault, the only reason Chris' insurance would come into play is if she is uninsured. In that case (if he carries uninsured motorist), his insurance would pay all but deductable (mine is $100) which is reimbursable, then his insurance will go after her for the rest. Ask me how I know...

Remember that fender incident when my car was in paint for go carting up north? That guy was uninsured, my insurance paid for the damage, then went to collect from him.

Chris's insurance would come in to play if the driver that hit him has no insurance or their company won't cover it for some reason.
And then they can be discretionary about certain things such as a rental and how quickly they settle and blah blah blah.
Never trust insurance companies....

I don't trust insurance companies either Brandy.

She has GEICO, but I don't know if she has just Liability or Comp and collision also.

I'm just not looking foward to them trying to low-ball me. I know its not a nice truck, but I should get at least $600 for it.

I think that's fair.

kbb lists "fair" private party condition with 150000 miles as $755. thats on an 88. kbb only goes as far back as 88 now, that can't be right....

dealer retail is $1500 Shocked so to replace it you would have to spend $1500 take that to the insurance company.

Yeah, I checked out the same thing. I'll be happy with $1000, but I don't think I'll get that, at least not without pitching a serious fit.

Mileage is 140,340. I talked with my friends Father-in-law who bought the truck new in 1990, so its verifiable.

ohh it's a 90. that makes it even more valuble.

by the way, pitch a fit. here is why:
1. f**k insurance companies
2. Money is good, you need it to get another driver
3. f**k insurance companies.
4. the system by which people are compensated for damages in this country is skewed. if my firebird gets totaled i will get WAY less then it's value, and less then it would cost to repace, but if i spill coffee that i knew was hot in my lap, because i am too much of a dumb f**k to take the lid that mcdonalds puts on all coffee cups, and burn myself i can get 6 billion dollars.
5. f**k insurance companies.

damn... i want 6 billion dollars. Sad

I'm with stupid
Insurance companies can go lick a stick. if everyone at least carried liability at least the stoopid people who cause accidents can have them taken care of. But I'm 100% behind you on vehicle cost/replacement.

Have you replaced any parts on truck recently? If so, provide recpit.

When they hand you a "quote" ask them if that covers...
Sales tax on new(er) ride.(does your state have tax on used cars?)
Re-registration of new(er) ride.
higher insurance rates due to new(er) ride.
Compensation for "inconvenience" (sp?)

Yes, when mine was totalled, we got all that shizzle. Had to put up a fight, but got it.
