I ordered new wheels for the 89. Thought it was time to be rid of the red RS wheels.

This is what I ordered, but they are coming from Replica Alloys via Discount Tire. They are 17 X 8.5, and have a 15mm offset, so no spacers or adapters are required. I am getting a set of 245/45/HR17 Kumho ECSTA AST to mount on them. I haven't really decided yet, but I still may opt to put them on the Purple RS an put the chrome ones it has on the Red RS.

Put them on the red car. Black wheels will be too dark on the purple car. Just my .02

I'm thinking the same thing. I will try the look on both cars though.

sweet wheels Al! I love those things! I don't think the black wheels will go good on the red one either. A set of centerlines would look soo sweet, and you are in luck cuz i have a set i will so graciously trade you! :p

Beautiful Wheels Al! I know kumhos are a great bargain, but from what I've seen they wear very quickly and poorly. But you don't drive like a lot of my friends.... Very Happy

I got the same ones (except all chrome) sitting in my storage unit right now (thanks Ian!!!) awaiting tires. I love that style, they will look sweet on your red car. Cool

They are nice, but why did you go with the 8.5s? I would have gone with something like a 10 or 11 Smile

Sometimes you have to go with what's available in the style and diameter you like. Wink

I understand the wheel choice... tempted to get a set of the non-chrome GM 10 spokes and get them powdercoated black, I don't like the rivet look on them, but thats just me.

but what I don't understand is the tire choice...
why only 245?

I think it's more of a compromise than anything on the tire size, and I like the look of the 245, I have them on my 92. Anything much larger rubs up front and would be out of my price range at the moment with the wheels included.

They should look nice al! I feel you on the size restrictions though. Its hard to find new rims for these cars. The lug pattern and offset for these vehicles make them hard to get wheels for. Thats the main reason I got the wheels I got! I'm going to go the adapter route though and try some other offsets.

Got them put on this morning. I knew they'd look good, but they look much better that I thought. Took a couple of pictures, I'll have to get some more when the weather is a little nicer.

They also came with decal for the center caps, not quite Corvette, but looks good. Probably leaving them off.

Wow. It always amazes me how a set of wheels and tires can completely transform the appearance of a car. From stocker to street machine Thumbs up

Looking good Al!

Thanks, they do look good. I have to agree to what Ian mentioned to me earlier - I need to do something about the brakes, the rusted calipers and drums are distracting. I've already rebuilt the rear, except for the flexible lines, so I may just take the drums and have the powder coated, at least they'll look good until I can put in a disc rear end. The fronts I need to completely rebuild only because they are old, then Ill powder coat the calipers. I'll probably stay stock sized for now, but better quality stuff.
