Seems like every spring I should have an interesting project. So here's the current idea.
My friend has a chevy truck with a 454 bbc and Turbo 400. It also has 8 lug rear axle and supposedly is beat to crap. The turbo 400 tranny was rebuilt 5k ago and got all the tow package stuff (shift kit, clutch pack upgrade, ect). He wants to give me the truck if I put the power train in a rice killing camaro. He only wants the disk front for his bronco.
How difficult is it to put a bbc in a camaro? I'm entertaining the idea of doing a 454 swap and stuff the 8-lug axle with dualies in my other chassis. Just to do something that goes really fast. _________________ E30

I learned that its a 1977 3/4ton GMC.
So it should be 4.25" bore and 4.00" stroke. I just need to figure out if its a:
364776 four bolt
3999289 two bolt
or something else.
And then heads:
346236 "peanut" (what is that?) |

| Anything peanut seems to be deemed small and lame. |

Many people have done it but as you dig into it you will see the main pain points (valve cover clearance at firewall/master cylinder and exhaust IIRC). Unless you are going for max BBC power it may be easier to go SBC or LSx. Most of the 'muscle car' era 454's don't put out as much power as a decent 383. My .02

| What if I turbo it? Its simple to do a blowthrough setup since its a carborated setup. |

There is a guy on TGO I know that has a big block 3rd gen drag car. He had to move the steering over, make a new dash and all sorts of stuff to make it fit.
Id personally turn the offer down. |

| Its a free powertrain. I figure I better jump on it just cause its free. I do understand that nothing is entirely free though, and it might cost me more than expected to actually pull it off. Maybe I'll get something smaller to put it in if the fabrication required is extensive. Maybe get a chevette. Lol. |
