How do you remove it? Anyone? I haven't looked at my chilltons manual yet but figured i would post the question.

Easy(ish)

Find a bolt or rod of metal that fits perfectly inside the bearing. Fill the bearing hole full of grease and then tap the bolt/rod into the grease. The hydrolic pressure should get behind the bearing and push it out.

I've never had much luck with the grease method myself, so if that doesn't work here's another suggestion:

Buy, borrow, or rent a bearing/axle puller (basically a big slide hammer), find a bolt that you can thread into the inside of the pilot bearing, or use a tap. Attach the slide hammer to the end of the tap or bolt, and give it a few yanks. Most times they should come out pretty easy. The one Tony and I did on his V6 bird gave up quite a fight.

the clutch tool is plastic. I wouldn't recommend it.

I've also destroyed one with a punch tool. Just pulled it out one piece at a time. Very Happy

So there is hope, no matter what method you choose.

I was just going to do that if i couldn't get it out the other way cause i'm going to be putting the transmission in after my best friends wedding. So at night. Cool

Just ask them for a pilot bearing removal tool. I bought it because I knew I'd use it again and it was only $25 or so. You can either rent or buy. Whichever, but if you're like me--you'll use it again.

And offsubject, I totally forgot about the trans! I spent my car money this check but if you want to wait until the 20th when I get paid again I can get you the money immediately after! If not, that's cool. And I could let you borrow the removal tool at the same time if you want.

The pilot bearing removal tool at autozone is too large to fit our bearings.

I used some other puller they had that was similar. Put the jaws in, screw them open, pull with slide hammer.

Cake.

Or chisel it and break it.
