I'm trying to figure out the best place to weld my main hoop to the car. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm thinking where I have the red circles in the picture below. Any ideas?

| You need to check the rules for the class you are building the cage for. Most places the main hoop has to be with 4"-6" of the driver in the seated position. Really, where you are going to site, and have the seat will determine where it needs to go. |

And some sanctioning bodies are different.
Figure out what you wanna do with it.... autox, road race, rally, drag and get a rule book and go from there.
Are you making this from scratch, or is it a pre made hoop(I hope!)? |

| I would do way more research before you go welding. There are tons of rules for tube diameter and wall thickness. Not to mention the how and where to attach. Everything will change versus if you are trying to maintain street ability or race it. |

Well, its a S&W roll cage, but the directions are very vague, not camaro specific. I was just wondering if anyone else has done one. _________________ 92 RS 355 |

Havn't done one myself.... but I'm tentatively scheduled to do 3 of em in the semi near future. Maybe sooner if we get Schultzy in the 10's :O)
Search for pictures too. You'll just mount it wherever it has to be in relation to Rules vs your Seat/head. |

Hey now, want to make that a fourth? I've got one I'd love to put in the bird. _________________

just like what dewey said you need to figure out what form of racing you are going to compete in mainly and build that cage to those specs. I can tell you from experience though, dont think youll be getting anyone into the back seat once your done. I will try to dig up some pics for you to take a look at. _________________
