It is not reliable and trustworthy to attempt to fix a crack in the block.
If the motor is free or dirt cheap, Id still grab it and either find another short block, or part it out. |

Word.
You may want to see if a standard sbc block can be used as a donor block. If you can get the cracked LT1 for cheap, it would be worth it to transfer it all over to a good sbc. I've heard that the LT1 intake will fit on an iron sbc, that would be fun too. |

it is not a direct transfer, if you try to use the intake, you will need to have it machined to accept a distributor, as the LT1's did have the dizzy like a normal SBC. |

IIRC the cam will work, but the heads will need to be modified for the cooling system.
How much are the asking for this cracked LT1? |

well, my friends dad loaned a guy some money. if he didnt pay it back, he said he would give him a 68 lemans, and a blazer w/ an lt1 and a 350. he never paid my friends dad, so he took him to court, sued and won. anytime this week hes getting everything. he said that he would trade me motors. but then we found out that the block is cracked. so i came on here to see if it was salvageable. and how much it would be worth. _________________ fortune favors the bold |

Damn, if it's free just jump on the CamaroZ28.com forums and buy an LT1 shortblock. They go for around 100-300, although shipping will be a b*tch. |
