Friend of mine wrecked her 01 with the LT-1, 6 speed wioth 45.000 miles and the insurance wants 3200 for it. My other friend has a 64 nova wagon and is thinking of buying it to put the running gear in. Is it worth that much for the drive train? I told him he could recoup some money from the interior and things. Dont know what the rear end is worth. what do you guys think?

'01 is an LS1. If it's legit take it for $3200. The drivetrain is worth that or more, and you'd make a nice profit if you can sell off the interior, wheels, ect.

unless its been completely trashed, its not really too high... Insurance premiums on LS1 cars are high enough as it is, buying one back is more costly than a lot of other cars with the exception of higher end cars ... unfortunately insurance companies know its a popular buy back car even if it never sees the road again. I'd buy mine back in a heartbeat if I wrecked it for the drivetrain alone (not to mention other misc stuff I have in it already)

the engine and transmission alone, if there was no damage in the wreck, can easilly be sold for 3200 or more... T56Rebuilds (or six speeds inc now I guess) here in Houston buy's undamaged transmissions for about 1500ish for the complete setup ... the LS6 intake on the 01 LS1 is easilly worth 300 bucks to the right person, and a fully running LS1 with the pcm and wiring can occasionally grab upwarsd of 2500 bucks

not to mention, the wheels/tires if they're undamaged (or even if most are undamaged), interior, t-tops if its got them...

by the way... if the interior is black and leather (or even if its not leather I don't care), I'm looking for door panels, carpet and a t-top headliner... I don't care about shipping costs I just want the stuff ... so if this does become a complete partout between friends up there, I want in Smile
