Does anyone know if the factory installed different coil springs and sway bars for the various engines offered, or did they use the same parts regardless if it was a 2.5L, V6, or V8? Also, where can this kind of info be found?

There were lots of diffrent spring combinations and sway bar combo's. The V6 springa and V8 springs are diffrent, I know there are also several diffrent rates for the V8 cars, it depended on what year it was, if it was a RS, IROC, WS6, softride, F41. They all had diffrent springs and sway bars.

How will I know if my particular combination will be strong enough? My car was originally a 4-cylinder and I don't plan to race it, just mostly a cruiser.

strong enough for what? Depending on what you want from the suspension, it may be right, it may not.

If you want handling with the V8 in there, pick up a set of IROC or WS6 springs, and call it a day.
