|

Ok, Looks like we are back to square one, got everything working again.
Found a very small vac. leak at the coolant bypass, fixed, found a small exhaust leak as well, fixed.
New plugs, autolight 24's going in today, as well as new oil filter and oil.
So what do I change in the prom to adjust my BLMs? what’s the heading??
I did get the laptop to work, hooked up and was viewing the iac, steps.
I tried everything to get it around 30 at idle but it just stays at zero.
The counts do change but only when the car seems like its going to die, there is a big jump to keep it running at that time, like 70 or so
I believe there is a heading in the chip that says minimum iac step or something, maybe that value is to big, will it help if I set this value to say 1 step min? I think it’s set at a min of 30.
The idle on the car keeps changing over time, set it at 700 rpms, them it will go to 1500 rpms later on.
Ya its back to square one.

There is an IAC min steps vs coolant which is a parked step for starting. There might be one for IAC vs TPS. You should set it to zero for the first few cells. Then when the car is warmed up, adjust the throttle blades until the IAC reads 0-10. Then re-adjust the TPS.
TO change your BLMS you change the VE tables. Work in the Main VE table.... #1. Increase the number for more fuel, decrease for less at the given RPM vs KPA(MAP) you are wanting to change. |

Well, we put a new set of autolight 24's in and it runs way better.
No popping,
the old AC'S were black...
If I go up to a 25 will that burn the fuel better??
Didn't change anything in the chip yet.
thanks

| 25s are a hotter plug and will have less tendancy to foul. |

Put A new set of 25;s in last night.
WOW,,
Huge difference in power.
Its like night and day...
AMAZING...It hard to imaging that a step up in heat range can make this big of a difference..
Runs like a Rocket ship again.
Was wet out side last night and it was tough keeping it from spinning the tires just cruising down the road.
Sweet....
Now lets see how long it last this time.......LOL..... |

Is there a plug hotter than Autolite 25 or another brand's equivilant for our cars?
You were right about the Delco 43's, paul. They're fouling again.
I'm gonna try a leaner carb and Autolite 24's to see if that improves things. _________________

I think 26's is it on autolights.
I believe.
What were the Delco 43" like???? autolight 24's????
I have fouled every plug I have put into this engine. I know there is allot of people that hate autolights but they work very good compared to most.
25's always have been the best for us, but didn't realize it until this last set was put in.

Scott,
There is no reason you should be fouling plugs that often. Do have dataloging capability, I bet the thing is bleeding rich at idle, and that is why you are fouling plugs so much. When you get the tune nailed down, you should be fine, I have autolite 23's in my car, with no problem. |

Ya I bet it is, Pig rich at idle.
But, because Iam a bit apprehensive to change in the chip, nor do I really know what to change, Iam afraid to make any changes.
Paul did some timing stuff for me last time and it did help a bunch, but Iam chicken since it seems that when I do change something, we Later I have problems..

LOL....
Ya Iam a little.....
It runs good right now, but there is a little bogging at off idle, but then hang on to your teeth after that its mach 1.
Lol...
Maybe be this weekend..
I have to work on sat. but Sunday I get off. Will be the 1st day off on 6 weeks.....YA .....BABY..
If I can find a dyno thats open on sunday I will be doing that. I want to see what the numbvers are the way it is. I may be surprised. I am wanting 300 rwhp.
Shoot I may even leave work early on sat to do that. But the dyno has to be close to me.

| Make sure you get a WB readout on the dyno, that info will be very helpful in tuning it. |

Ok, (I hope you bare with me.)
On My IAC,
Park position is 160,
This happens when you turn engine off. This is fully retracted allowing much are to bypass throttle body blades.
When started and is running it should close a little right? Maybe 30 when at idle.
Some times (always) this thing shows 0 zero counts at idle, (should be fully closed)
But its sucking a massive amount of air through iac, I can feel it with my finger....
0, zero, should be closed, no air through it.
It’s working correctly and it’s cleaned, I took the bypass plate off and turned ignition on, and it did close and seal.
Hummm, Iam missing something???

narrow band is the stock style sensor, is uses a 0-1v non-linier voltage curve (less resolution the further away from stoich you get). widebands are 0-5v linier, so the resolution is the same through the entire sensor range.
Have you gone through the prosedure for setting the throttle blades? You may need more air than your IAC is able to supply, and you need to crack open the throttle blades a hair. You probably also need to make some adjustments to the VE tables, and possible the idle's o2 swing point. |

Well ya, I understand what your saying.
Yes I have about 20 times, doesn't seem to help at all.
Humm.
Ok,
I will chew on this for a while.
That’s why I have to adjust the iac manually to about 30 counts....
Paul was saying that.
hummm.
ok..
I really need to come to a gathering!!!!!!!!
Anyone for a PIR night???
Bring your tuning knowledge...

I'm always down for a PIR night if you are ready to bring your car down.
I have my IAC set ot ZERO. not 20 counts not 30 ZERO at a fully warmed up idle.
Then the IAC has 160 counts worth of opening it can do if needbe. Thus, no limitation of air for idle.
You need to tune the idle.
Either bring it down here and Dewey and I will whip it more into shape in an hour than spending $$ on the dyno just to get "numbers" No sense in numbers if it's running like crap.
You have the spare o2 bung, if you sweet talk unca schultzy you might be able to rent his innovate and we can get you really dialed in. There will still be minor stuff for you to do, but we can get it a whole lot closer.
If you're rich at idle you HAVE to tune the chip. There is no other way around it man.
Make small changes if you're scared! |
