So right now i have a 89 RS and i'd like to swap out the 2.8l motor out of it but i havent really found an affordable alternative...until today. My grandpa had gotten a pretty much whole 82 corvette for free and he hasnt done anything with it for a bout a year...I asked him if he had the motor for it and he said yeah its the crossfire one. So im guessing it's the same 350 with the crossfire injection like on some of the Z28's? But i was wondering if it would be possible to do just drop it in or have to go with a different transmission?

You'll have to swap in new fuel lines, suspension, trans, ECM, wiring harness (just to get started). Best way to go about it is to find a donor 3rd gen that's already a V8 if you really want to stay with the one you have right now. Otherwise, the best alternative is to sell your current car and get a V8 3rd gen, problem solved Wink

restoring that 82 vette would be a fun project, what's needing done to it?

needs a new back clip ( i guess the guys son backed into something so it was gone when my grandpa got it) front end put on, pretty much it's all broken down into major parts and needs to be reassembled

We'll i'd really like to stay with the car i have now i dont really have a whole lot of money to go out and buy another car. Im kinda fixed on sticking with my car and building it from the ground up

Have you considered just driving the V6 as a daily and saving for an L98 or LT1? Don't know your current financial situation, but I do know that deciding your "stuck" with any car can end up costing you.

well right now im a full time student finishing up my last year in highschool and workign a part time job at Smokey Point Cycle Barn getting paid minimum wage..so i dont have a lot of money to throw around or put a lot of time into projects also...Also doubt my parents would be to thrilled about me having 2 cars parked in their driveway

I can absolutely understand where you're coming from cause I'm only a couple years removed from that situation myself. However I'd still say your best bet is to not rush anything, find a good car, and go from there.

Also, if you have any ideas about driving your project to work, forget it. Not gonna happen. Laughing
