Just finished making the CAI today. I got the basic design from SARswmr over at TGO. It only cost $41 too. Here's what i plan to do next:

Engine Bay:

~Clean/detail engine/engine bay with degreaser, simple green, tire shine (hoses) and wax where paint shows
~New coolent overflow tank and Windshield washer bottle
~Put on my Chrome Valve covers
~Paint TPI the color of my car and put silver in the grooves on pluenum/fuel rails

Exterior:

~clean/repaint rims (gloss black instead of charcoal)
~Third brake light mod
~Tint tailights with Niteshades spraypaint
~maybe some tips for the exhaust

Thats all i can afford to do for now. Here's a pic of the CAI in the dirty engine bay:

(cardomain wont allow me to click for a bigger image so this will have to do)

Looking good man. If you have a chance please post more detail on your CAI. I have been wanting to do something like that for a while.

When you clean up your engine bay it really makes a big difference to replace your coolant overflow and windshield wiper fluid reservoirs. They aren't terribly expensive.

The only places you need to go is Autozone, Lowes and somewhere to cut the exhaust pipe to length, I went to Midas, the cut it for free. Mine cost me only $41 because i had the 45* piece connected to my MAF sensor. Lowes probably has one but its a 90* piece so just cut it in half if you dont have it, its only about another $5-6. Here's the list of what i had to get and there prices:

-Autozone-

~ Generic 3" cone air fliter - $24.99 Part #8138

~ 3" exhaust pipe 18in long - $5.49 Part #17628

-Lowes-

~ 3'' Flexible coupling - $5.46 Part #23475

~ 3'' ABS (simular to PVC) 90* - $2.43 Part #22774

Exact total of $41.74

Looks good man.

As far as the coolant/washer tanks, I used some bleach and a bottle brush on mine on my 88 and they came out really clean.

Also, if you have any questions about the 3rd brake light mod, let me know. Wink
