I have to go to China next Friday and stay there for two weeks doing work. So besides being away from the CC I'll also be trying to avoid eating dog, cat, fish eyes, chicken feet, insects, brain, and anything else that looks strange and/or has a spongey texture.
Well, I better get working to learn some Chinese so I can understand what they are saying. For instance,

_________________ "Are you guys ready? Did you ever think, when you eat Chinese
It ain’t pork or chicken but a fat Siamese?
Yet the food tastes great, so you don’t complain.
But that’s not chicken in your chicken chow-mein.
Seems to me I ordered sweet-and-sour pork
But Garfield’s on my fork.
He’s purrin’ here on my fork.
There’s a cat in the kettle at the Peking Moon
The place that I eat every day at noon.
They can feed you cat and you’ll never know
Once they wrap it up in dough, boys:
They fry it real crisp in dough.
Chou Lin asked if I wanted more
As he was dialin’ up his buddy at the old pet store.
I said "Not today. I lost my appetite.
"There’s two cats in my belly and they want to fight."
I was suckin’ on a Rolaid and a Tums or two
When I swear I heard it mew, boys:
And that is when I knew...
There’s a cat in the kettle at the Peking Moon
I think I gotta stop eatin’ there at noon.
They say that it’s beef or fish or pork
But it’s purrin’ there on my fork.
There’s a hair-ball on my fork. _________________ "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."

Ahahah.
I'm actually working on my second quarter of conversational mandarin, basic chinese. (The girlfriend is fluent so I have a tutor)
The dog, cat, and other forms of meat are also served in specialty places that advertise, if you can learn a few characters, that they serve it.
See, they boast that it is in the food because culturally they have no problem with it.
So if you're lucky, you won't end up going someplace "special" with a friend. I think I might eat dog over dealing with the jet lag.
What kind of work you doing there? _________________

| My company has a relatively new engineering team that are my counterparts in China. I am going there to teach them a few things and also to help evaluate Chinese suppliers and products. |

Not quite, but less than a day and a half in each city. Lets hope your boss is paying for the travel. |
