|
|
So, I have a couple questions for the folk on here. I have noticed that when the temperature drops really low, and i haven't driven my car one day, that ice forms on the inside of the windshield and the hatchback window. Now obviously my car isn't hermetically sealed, so some moisture gets in somewhere. I have a feeling it is where the window meets the t top. Any idea on how to avoid this moisture coming inside? (besides parking it in a garage which i don't have. I am stuck on the street) Secondly, If I get my hatchback window tinted, will the ice ruin it? I am thinking of getting a cover for the car but don't know if it will help at all.
Next question. My intermittent wipers don't do anything. They work fine on max and min settings but not intermittent.
Finally (for now) I am a complete noob when it comes to car audio. I want to replace the stock speakers with new ones. I am in the process of looking for an amp and sub. For now though I am wondering what sizes the stock speakers are. fronts and back. plus I understand that round is better than oval. is it a problem to replace the stocks with rounds?
Any help is appreciated. |

can't help to much with the moisture problems, most my cars have plastic untinted back windows
but the speaker sizes are 4X6 front and 6X9 rear
there is no problem putting round speakers in the stock locations, I have 4in speakers in my dash, and you just make a plate that has the stock 6X9 holes in it and mount whatever you want in the plate for the rear
I think Al has a good pic of this if I remember correctly
if you ever get out my way we should hang out so I can see you car in person _________________

well the mosisture thing is a leak definately, it will not ruin your tint if your tint is done right and the window is clean youll be fine, find out if the car pet it wet and where its most wet or at least damp ussually on 3rd gens t-tops and door seals leak if anythign check your seal for damage and deterioration _________________ Cadillac of Bellevue

I have two sets of round speakers in each sail panel (where the 6X9's go). To do this, even for a single round speaker, you would need to remove the interior plastic piece to access the speaker mounting plate. I removed the plate and replaced it with a piece of hard board (like peg board material without the holes), then cut the holes to mount the speakers in. I also have 4" round speakers in the dash and components in the kick panel.
This is a set of 6" and 4" coaxials in the sail panel.

| Back to the frost inside the window issue: pretty much any car I have ever driven has done that. The only way to really stop any leask though, is to use a hose on a day when the weather isn't like 13 degrees, and find the leaks, then either fix or replace the seals. |

| On the speaker size deal, does your car have the factory subwoofer system? Mine did and that means the back speakers are different. Mine had a 4x6 and a hybrid 4" sub in each side panel instead of a 6x9. |

I don't think it had a factory sub. I will remove the panels and check out the back speakers to make sure though. Thanks for showing me how you added the 2 rounds to the rear. As for the icy windows I will try that hose thing once the weather warms up from -7. thanks for the help.
As for when i work. Usually I do 9-9 on Mondays. 9-5 Tuesday, 4:15am - 12:15 on Friday - Sunday. |
