I have a guy here at work that swapped a 350 TPI into a '30s sedan. He is wondering if removing the EGR valve will improve performance. Any ideas?

Unless you disable it in the chip, I wouldn't do it. It is going to change the fueling, when the EGR valve should be open.

Do you know where I can find literature/diagrams on how the lines and hoses are routed on the TPI. Vacuum and cooling on the throttle body, etc? Thanks!

Should check where the motor came from and look up an engine schematic for that. We are doing the exact same swap right now. We have a 40 GMC truck little streetrod that we are putting in a 350 TPI L98. _________________

EGR IS GREAT! Better milage, lower emissions, AND DOESN'T HURT PERFORMANCE AT ALL!

I was going to say something similar. Other then soot in the intake/complexity there's not many drawbacks. The EGR function doesnt work at all during WOT so it doesnt hurt performance. The rest of the time it allows you to run more timing and gives better mileage due to better cylinder filling without going too lean.
Kinda funny though, cause I think neither Paul nor I have EGR working, yet we're the ones saying keep it. If I didnt need an adapter to clear my valve covers, I would have mine functioning though. |

Yeah! Only reason I'm not running one is because there is no provision for it in the stealthram.

That's what I thought but I figured I would ask you guys. You're more familiar with the TPI engines than I am.

I removed egr on my '85 Z28 TPI with no noticable effect. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6
