Well, I got my mysterious low voltage and failure of the alternator to charge fixed last week. Happened to be the ignition switch not providing an output to the accessories (cooling fan, HVAC blower, power windows, etc), which is also the circuit the alternator sense wire is connected to. After getting the new switch in and tested, the lock cylinder (which has fit pretty loose for a few years) decided to "lock" in the run position. Shocked Had to unplug the switch to shut the car off. Now looking for a lock cylinder which I have read is a dealer only item with VATS - and replacement involves pulling the wheel Twisted Evil This means I'm another week without the purple car Crying or Very sad

I'd go with dealer stuff anyways, but FYI; http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=NIE&mfrpartnumber=LC14341&parttype=521&ptset=A

Parts america is schmucks. And if schmucks can get it then I bet NAPA up there can get it and probably cheaper.

At least it wasn't some gremlin in the charging system that was untrackable though.

I actually thought it had to do with the alarm by the indications it was giving me. That's why it sits at Mobile Radio with a new ignition switch and waiting for a new lock cylinder. With the rain we are having, and no space in my garage, I'll gladly pay for someone else to do it - plus his labor is not as much as a mechanic gets.

I like that shop because they'll do almost anything electrical and even some mechanical work.

How long has it been there? Is that place on wheaton(sp?) way? I think I remember seeing your rig down there awhile ago

That's Firestone on Wheaton Way, and it's been there a couple of times too, but not in the last couple of months. Mobile Radio (Bremerton) is near Auto Center Way and there is also one in Silverdale and Poulsbo. It's been there a week now only because I can't pick it up during M-F business hours. BTW, they also do auto glass and tinting.

He's still the boss. Keeps his office in the Poulbo store.
