Has anyone done this swap before? I'm almost done with mine and have questions about some little stuff.

How much did the wrecked LT1 cost ya? Every time I stomp on the gas in the 95 I wish the LT1/T-56 was in my GTA and I think about doing the swap...

Here's an article I scanned on the very project.

I'm gonna read these and get back to you. Thanks!

I picked up the entire car for $800. I bickered the price down from $1200. The car was tossed into a ditch and had the LCA's ripped open. So before it could be towed, I had to put alot of it back together.

I got a deal, and so did he. Selling a wrecked car is not the easiest thing to do. It takes someone who wants just the engine to buy it. I am that guy. Plus I argued that fact that a car is wrecked with the engine running, bad things can happen to the motor later on. So I told him that I'm likely going to have to rebuild it, plus its high mileage, plus it had to be fixed before it was moved... blah blah blay.

I'll let you know when its running!

So noone else has one?

I always thought that'd be a cool swap to do on a 3rd gen someday, but its just not realistic for me.

keep us posted, looks like it'll be sweet once its done!

Several guys on TGO have done this swap, Zepher for one. It will be more difficult going from your V6 to an LT1 than if you had an 8.

He's going into an L03 car.

blue, RSFreak is right, go to the swap forum on TGO. There are tons of people on their who have done this exact swap, and there are quite a few topics detailing various jobs.

Ya, I found a couple of people and some pictures that are helping me with the swap right now. I post over there as Blue1989rs. The name came about as a lack of creativity and I've just stuck with it.

The car has to be running by thanksgiving. A friend and I are in a competition to get our cars running. He has a Nissan 240 with an RB25 turbo something something in a very similar state of construction.

Plus I want to bring it out to the meets! I've never seen one at any of the vancouverfbody meets so I thought it would be fun to do. Plus its gonna be FAST!

Its not my intention to race the LT1 car, but you know how that goes Rolling Eyes

I'm going to need some parts once its rolling, so I'll be in the Wanted section quite a bit. But as far as easier... I don't know. The only thing I didn't have to do was the exhaust and chassis side motor mounts. I've had to do everything else.

Does anyone know if you can substitute the 4L60E with a 700r4 and have the computer not freak out on you? I'm having doubts as to if I can get the speedo working. The tailshaft is optical out only for the PCM, but the speedo is cable.

I've got the LS1 trans in my car and as far as I've found... there isn't any provision to make a cable driven speedo work. I put in autometers.

Autometers are kind of expensive huh? How are you controlling your tranny? Does it shift normally without the computer?

Considering the frequency of the 4L60E to TH400 swap done to LT1's and LS1's, I'm sure you could find some info on a 4th gen forum.

ITS ALIVE!

Just started it up on Saturday night. Wow, thats all I have to say about that! Its sounds healthy, snappy throttle, no rattles, burly as hell! Woot Woot!

Just got to clean up some wiring, reprogram the PCM to get rid of the codes (I'm sure there are codes), and put the hood on!
