I got the transmission back Thursday and installed it Friday night. I have a real nice bag of worn parts to make me feel better about my receipt. The mechanic said that it looked like there may have been a clearance problem with 1st gear for quite some time. Looks like it tried to weld itself in there. Feels good but haven't really slammed on it yet.

Paul came over Saturday and welded a bung into the updated exhaust so we could do some tuning with the wide-band. The tune was definately fat - pegged the wide band O2 at 10:1 at a few diff points. Think we got things dialed in pretty good but then the wide band unit started throwing an error so we had to stop. At least I don't have the 007 gas cloud that was so popular in Seattle and Canadia.

Also got the nitrous mastermind installed and hooked up. I re-jetted so hopefully I won't be pig fat on the juice like I was at the dyno and track. The calculator that I used for the jetting said that this set up should be good for 190 hp - 160 at the wheels. I didn't want to try it without the wide band to see where the AFR was. I know, I'm a wuss.

We were able to use a couple of factory screws to hold the mounting bracket so no hacking. Tucks up out of the way pretty nice.



If the weather cooperates I may go to the track next Saturday. See what breaks next.

pretty low profile place for it......sweet that it didn't take much hacking into the dash to get it in there.

I had an all-band frequency scanner mounted in the same spot a while back. I knocked my knee against it several times Mad Not why I took it out - just too noisy to listen to it with the stereo going too.

Shultzy's legs aren't as long, so he shouldn't have a problem Razz

Ian,
The tranny worked fine for normal driving around but if I tried to quick shift 1st to 2nd gear under full power it would grind and was getting progressively worse. I assumed that the syncros were worn and wanted to get it checked out before I went back to the track. No sense trying to improve my E.T. if I can't get the first gear change in.

First time in a while I got to think of myself as the short guy but absolutely no interference with my knees and the unit follows the contour of the factory panel there great.

I'll keep in touch on plans for next weekend. I'll either get a better time slip or break something trying!

Man I heard about those Tremec reliability/strength issues. That's why I went with a good ol reliable T5. Thumbs up

Would love to go up and watch but I doubt I have the time. Good luck with it though, she won't break if you believe in her. Yup yup

I was 3deg advance, and checked it before we left to go up there.

I loved the roads! I just was at the track the other weekend and my AFR was all over the place. Just one of the things I checked... and my timing rarely changes so I thought I'd share the insight.

wow! my dizzy clamp bolt was loose enough that i could turn the cap by hand, and i was 4* retarded. that is 12* off. i think i found out where all my power went. i have GOT to buy a timing light. Rolling Eyes

Well it was questionable for this weekend because I have a bday party for my stepdad tonight and found out that my son's football game doesn't start until 5:30 tomorrow evening in Wilsonville. There was still a chance that I could have got there late tomorrow night *** but *** my new wide band sensor has been circling Portland the last two days and both times they tried to deliver it no one was at home to accept it.

I really don't want to run the juice without checking AFR first and I really want to run the juice.

Next weekend?

You should be there tomorrow morning to get the sensor. How longs a football game?

Suck... I really wanted to go.

I even fixed the car this morning.

You could drop your car off here with the sensor, I could tune it for you and have it ready at the conclusion of the footbal game :OP





Tony: You don't need a timing light so much as you need to build a little muscle to tighten down one bolt to HOLD your distributor on a regular basis. Make sure both ends of the "fork" on the clamp are around the "base" of the dizzy. Laughing

Hey Paully, I guess they did leave a handout saying that I could pick it up tomorrow. What time do you work? Maybe we could tune early afternoon and then I would just have to be at the track late. Could still get several passes in.

The game will probably go until about 8. Then I will need to get home and get to the track so that would be 9 - 9:30.

What do you think? I am kind of anxious to blow some crap up myself.
