Well,
Put a new radiator in it last night, and it started, sounds good, didn't over heat, no leaks, and drove it around the block. Wow the kid got lucky.
Smog pump it making noise, pulls to the right a bit. But she purrs like a kitten.
Was suppose to have a blown motor, but its seems good.
Heater fan doesn't work. Shifts fine.
Wow, I can't believe it.
I told the kid, a Blind squire gets a nut once in a while.

Not very much power compared to the other car, but I bet it doesn't get 8 mpg either. lol.....

It does look like its an Iroc base model with the TBI, probably a 100,00 made but not bad for 1,000.
Seats are very hard; he is going to change them tonight.

Or are you going to pick up an f-car, for yourself, and the new motor?

For me???
Maybe I will keep the other car and fix it, swap out motors (back to the 305).
Don’t know yet.

So I have a wiring question.
88 TBI 305 to a TPI, need new harness??? Can I re-pin the tbi to make it tpi? The 87 has the 165 computer and it runs the 8d mask.

We have all the brand new stealth ram intake stuff to swap out the old tpi runners and intake.
Should I stick with MAF??? Or just go straight into speed density??
The motor is built pretty good.

So what should I do? What do you think?
Thanks
Scott

Depends on what you want to do. If I were you and had the money, I'd pick up the C950 for abour $850. Comes with the computer to tune real time, speed density swap stuff, and harness.

You can't repin the TBI stuff to TPI stuff.

You'll also need to swap fuel pumps in the tank, eliminate the rubber lines that might be at the back of the tank on the outlet side (biggest line at 3/Cool

And change the fuel lines in the engine bay to go to the stealth ram. I used adapters and stainless braided line on mine.

I'm pretty sure it can be repinned. Might be easier to just swap the whole harness though. Unless you are going to be using the harness still, in the old car.

I would agree with Paul though, if you can swing the money, the C950 is the way to go, especialy with that cammed motor.

I thought you couldn't repin them because of the way it controls the injectors?

Plus he'd had to splice in the 8 MP injector connectors. No big deal, but hacking a harness kinda sucks.

you can repin everything, and modify the injector harness. The sensors peices of the harness are re-usable, with a re-pin.

There's actually a pretty recent thread on tg.o about repinning the 746 ecm to a 730/749 so I don't see why you couldn't pin it to a 165 if you really wanted. Sell the maf/tpi computer/harness to offset the cost of the c950. Smile

Might even find someone on this board that could use the ecm/harness.

He mentioned that lol.

Ya know... I sold my old TPI hardware for $300 on ebay.... add in the cpu and harness and that's a good $500

Get the C950 and be better set!

What exactly is a C950 , where do I see it and read about it?
Got a link?

I didn't even think about selling the old harness, for that mater we could sell top end (intake and up) to the new ecm. I have had ZERO issues since adding a new o2 sensor. runs great no alarms. Of cource thats atributed to a few people on this bord, since I knew nothing.
thanks
scott

Thanks for the info.

I got another question,
The front paint is all messed up because they put a bra on it, so I want to go ahead and put another one on there.
what one do I buy? I want the two piece.
I can't seem to find one that says Iroc, or camaro on them.
thanks
scott

IIRC, the nose from 85+ is the same.

It might be easier to just paint it. Any new one you get, will need to be painted.

Its more than that, because you need some other things to go with it. Its about $850 to get everything you need.

I meant, IIRC = If I Recall Correctly.

I was speaking about the actual nose body piece on the car.

If you are talking about adding a bra. I think I have one you can have.
