|
|
I've been tossing around ideas with my dad and fellow thirdgen buddies as to what exhaust to run once I swap my motor.
My friend who is doing a swap alongside me ( i get ridiculously good prices on custom crates) is going to do full length hedmans with purple hornie header bolt ups.
I am kind of about that setup, I do see its benefits of flow, but personally, I want to be able to cruise and cruise without my inner ears bleeding after an hour. I love rumble, but I want the car to be sexy, not a nuisance. So I am still thinking of maybe hedman shorties, y pipe, and then 3 inches to a dynomax crossflow or even a flowmaster. Will this hurt my HP though?
What would you guys run for exhaust? _________________

| I have a hedman shorties, a modified Y pipe, and a 3" hooker aerochamber system. Sounds great. If I wasnt turning over 3k rpm on the freeway it'd be fairly quiet. No idea on how many hp it holds back though. The flowmaster systems the others have tried seem to hold back a few hp vs open cutouts on the dyno. I beleive Rodney's Banks 3" system dynoed the same as open cutouts. This is at the 300hp level. Sounds good too. Both Paul and Mike have gone to dual 3" setups. Both are pretty loud. |

Dual 3inch is totally me, but I don't think I can afford the welding cost, nor do I think I can find a shop who will ignore my cat less needs.
Banks must be very expensive, how much was your set up Chevymad? And, thank you for the reply _________________

Banks was only $300 for the cat back. Not bad for all stainless steel. Problem is that I hear on TGO that they quit making them.
I have Headman shorties, modded Y pipe to 3 ", electric cut out, and then the Banks system. The whole exhaust including coated headers was about $1000. On the dyno I gained 6 rwhp with the cutout open. |
