has anyone else had trouble accessing the boards today? i was unable to connect from noon until around 8pm. tried from home and school. kept getting a mySQL error.

Board was down most of the day. Dewey worked with the hosting company... looks like they had a database issue.

Nope, it was everyone. One technician tried to tell me it was our php scripts. One guy said their admin was working on getting the system fixed. Who knows what happened. They hosting company sure is not very forthcoming with information.

dude, for real. i was like "but i... the board... this makes no sense... it should be here!" then i blacked out for a few hours... my sister came home and said i was in the corner crying... i don't remember that part, just waking up in a freezing cold shower Shocked

Well. I was digging thru the log files this evening. I noticed that google was spidering our site, at the same time as MSN, while the site was down on thursday. I have added the /phpBB2 directory to the robots.txt file on the server. Maybe that will be a solution.

Our hosting company is supposed to be calling me tomorrow or Monday with more information on why the site was down.

i noticed the same SQL error about 4 hrs ago. i checked again fifteen minutes later and it was fine.

It's when search engines use automated programs to make a cache of a website so the search engine can collect data on each page, and file it accordingly. It does take up some bandwidth on the server though.

It wasn't the bandwidth that was the issue. It was the ammount of SQL queries that were being done. I only put the board folders in the exclusion list, the rest of the site will still hit the search engines normally.
