I still think you're wrong. Care to explain some more? Maybe links or photo's?

| Threw in an edit there.. Do you hang around on any non chevy forums much? You'll find it a pet peeve of the non chevy forums to have their engines called bb's. |

You must definately be thinking of the Pontiac blocks. Because Buick 350 (small block) heads will not fit the larger 400,430,455 big blocks. And yes, I do hang around http://www.v8buick.com/index.php? If you scroll down you'll see they have under "Engine Tech" | Quote: | Small block tech (4 Viewing)

Here is another website that states the differences. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buick_V8_engine#Buick_.22Big-Block.22
| Quote: | | The 455.72 in³ (7.5 L) 455 Buick V8 used a 4.312 in bore and 3.90 in stroke. Most parts except the pistons interchange with the 400 and 430. |
| Quote: | | The Buick 350 V8 had a 3.80 in bore (like the 3800) and retained the 3.85 in stroke of the 340. |
I'm still searching for deck height and bore spacing measurements.

Just doin some searchin.. not finding anything buick specific either..
You do find alot of people callin pontiacs and olds bb and sb too. Both of which I know for sure dont have bb and sb's. I am seing the listing of the 2 different series of buick engines too.
Just saw one buick site.. buick prototype motor.. 550hp and 750ft/lbs.. stock. Didnt build it cause the th400 wouldnt hold up.
Always thought a buick 455 might be fun.. they're hte largest bore shortest stroke 455 of the bunch. |

Whorin it up now.
Found a site with interesting buick trivia. Says here that the original engine for the Shelby Cobra was going to be a buick. Talk about a weird combination. Buick powered mustangs.
LMAO! looks like you can trust Summit catalog for tech data too. I just tried checking camshafts for buicks.. and end up with a 307 olds?? lol. Didnt know the 307 olds was a buick.
Anyway, I thought the 2 different sizes were more an engine series thing. But I'm not finding that on the web. Show different part #s for the smaller cams and the 400cid ups.. So looks like you could be right. Not what i've seen before though. But that info may have come from olds/pontiac oriented guys as well.
Point to Charlie.....
Hard to imagine a bb that weighs in only 60lbs heavier then a sb chevy in any case. With the right build and a few sandbags that sprint oughta do wheelies. |

The engine came from a '70 Riviera and had 370hp 510ft-lbs. It was good enough for 14.64@96mph at PIR almost a year ago with 2.56 gears.

A Buick powered Mustang... that's something the Mustang guys may not wanna know. lol
I found the following here a little over half way down the page under orange text of "Buick V8 Engine": http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/reference/buick_v8_engine
| Quote: | | The 215 V8 was developed first, spawning the 3800 V6. Then the 3800 design was used to create the 300. Both had the same 4.24 in (107.7 mm) bore spacing and the 3800 and 300 shared the same 3.75 in (95.2 mm) by 3.40 in (86.4 mm) bore and stroke dimensions. |
| Quote: | The Buick 350 V8 had a 3.80 in bore (like the 3800 (3800: the 3800 family is a large v6 engine used by general motors....
(like the 3800) and retained the 3.85 in stroke of the 340. |

Scroll down to the second post which is by Alan.

I found this too.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buick_V8_engine
Notice that "small block" and "big block" are in quotes even? I think we're not the first 2 to debate this! Anyway, whatever the difference there are 2 different modern v/8 lines in the buick family.
I may have even been thinkin about the 2nd generation nailheads. Notice they go from 364cid up to bb type displacement too. |

It's an illusion. Drop base air cleaner to an Edelbrock 750cfm square-bore carb to a square-bore to spread-bore adapter on the stock spread-bore intake.

Actually it weighs 4100lbs with me in it, but close enough. lol That last comment reminds me of when I unintentionally did the 1/8th mile burnout at PIR with it. I stood on the throttle on the green and kept thinking "it's gonna hook. it's gonna hook." It finally hooked by the time I made it to the overpass.
