Which end is up... on a water pump.

Does the weep hole face upwards, or downwards?

Reason I ask is because every time I have started up my car, even after new intake gaskets I seemed to have produced coolant coming from the bolt holes... only after this one I made sure to RTV EVERYTHING including the bolts and bolt holes.... so i was looking around, and it seems to be coming more from the thermostat area... when I saw the weep hole and never did really think about which side went up. I've got a heater hose coming from one end, and lower radiator from the other... not sure if they're the same sized hose fittings or not though.

I'm sure I have it on right, but would like to double check Smile

Weep hole down. Smile So gravity can help the pump weep.

Also just a hint, You'd never get it on if it was on upside down. the bolt holes wouldn't have lined up and you would for sure know it!

ACTUALLY....

lmao, I guess I'm going to be doing a little jingle with my water pump on my next day off lol.

Want to see a picture of a waterpump put on upside down? Cuz I can sure take a picture of it...

no wonder I get a massive coolant leak from the thermostat housing when I start the car, eh? hah.
