Can't have a turbo on there without a crossover and a cold side. Apparently someone hasn't built those yet. It is open headers for now.
Beers are in the process of being dispatched at a prodigious rate indeed.
Keep in mind that the brody video is at about 50% throttle, we don't have a functional throttle cable setup yet so it is pretty rigged right now. We can only hit 53% throttle with the pedal on the floor. That problem is on the docket to be fixed tomorrow.
Some idiot put a transistor on backwards on the MegaSquirt board (wonder who that could be? ) and it was causing the fuel pump to run all the time. After that was ID'ed and fixed, we had to play with fuel and IAC tuning to get it to start and run, but we're doing pretty good so far as you can see. We don't even have a wideband on there yet, so it's all tuning by ear for now. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

It's true, kids. The car is totally running a driving. After rolling it around the neighborhood a bit yesterday Gabe and I took it about half a mile up the road before the exhaust pumping into the cab had annoyed me enough to turn around.
Some thoughts:
If you have a smoke detector in your shop you should take the battery out before you redline a motor with open headers inside.
No exhaust means no wideband and so no ability for the ECM to target and AFR. Gabe was manning the laptop and fueling based off of the MAP sensor alone. This caused some tip-in issues, and it ran way rich with any amount of throttle. This was especially bad because with no HVAC covering the holes in the firewall Gabe and I were being pummeled by hot blinding exhaust smoke as we drove.
As such an HVAC blockoff plate has moved way up on the priority list.
The serpentine belt keeps jumping off the back of the alternator pulley (til it runs into the alternator case) with any RPM. I am not certain if this is the fault of the alternator, the tensioner/idler pulley, or maybe even the water pump. All are unknown units.
The start and die immediately issue that I was having was caused by the IAC acting retarded. With enough pedal I was able to keep it running but by the end of the day Gabe had mostly tuned that out so that it will start and stay running without pedaling now.
The engine free-revs to redline great. I would wager it's probably the fastest-revving motor I have ever had. Not sure how much of that is the aluminum flywheel on it, but speaking of that...
The Spec stage 3 is reasonable on the street. I was worried it would be aggressive or chatter because it is kinda hammered but it works fine.
Fourth-gen throttle cable with a third-gen firewall connector and a new swage on the cable seems to work pretty well. I cut the cable a bit short so the throttle pedal is higher than normal, but whatever.
Overall I am very pleased. There were a lot of questions on this build but for the most part it went great. |

Nice Rat Fink shifter.
Are you ready for the cross over then? Get that intercooler mounted and we can spend a day and mock up all the good pipes :O) _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Yeah, that shifter sucks ass. The nylon bushing in the transmission is shot so it's super sloppy as well as being too long.
Intercooler is already mounted! You can get a good look at it when I'm backing out of the driveway in that video. |

Best damn $22 I ever spent. It's so worth it if you're all about the little details that help your driving experience. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Yup. I already have that exact page bookmarked.
On a related topic: does anyone know if Pro5.0 is still in business? Their website has been down for awhile and places seem to be low on stock of their shifters. |

So how much of the interior is actually going back in?
And when do we get to see some performance numbers? |

I will have to fab up some sort of dashboard; probably aluminum painted or powdercoated flat black.
If I like the seats (and I think I do ) I will lighten them and have them recovered.
I have noticed a glare problem with the white floorpan reflecting on the inside of the windshield. If the black dashboard doesn't resolve that then I will look at some lightweight marine carpet for the front of the pan.
