So ac is working intermittently, so soon my reading I learned that the air gap on clutch housing grows over time which causes clutch to not engage. It says gap should be .020 and mine is .035. So it says I can remove shims to shrink it down. Problem is I can't get bolt of because it spins. So any trick to accomplishing this.

So I got it off. So it looks like what they call a shim is just a small washer.? So in order to shrink air gap coildnt I just use a thinner washer?

I have to remove .015 of and inch. Think sandpaper would do it. My issue is I am in Yakima and they are limited on their autoparts. Can't find the shim kit anywhere.

I've never shimmed a compressor clutch.

They come with shims factory, but over time, at least from what I am reading the gap gets wider and that causes the clutch not to engage. At least from whatvi am reading

I guess that teaches me to pay attention.
In my defense, we were about a sixpack in when I read the original post, eh Aaron? _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

You'll see Tacoma Screw stores from Oregon to Idaho. All with the same name. |
