Oh what a difference! Turns are smooth and predictable again. Puttin the bearings on was super easy.. gettin the car aligned took all day. But it even drove better before it was aligned. I used an old fashioned bubble gauge to get it close. Was only 1/4* off! Anyway, couple hundred bucks later and its fun to drive again. And no more poppin noises!! |

strut bearings (actually didnt realize struts used bearings?) cause a popping sound? I may be getting a 77 Camaro soon, and the kid thinks the rear is going out because on right hand turns it makes a popping sound... just curious |

You wont have that problem with a 77 camaro.. actually you wont even have strut bearings or struts. 2nd gens have upper and lower a-arms instead of struts. 3d gens have a lower a-arm and a strut. Where the upper end of the strut connects to the body theres a bearing allowing it to turn. My bearings were so hammered they not only had slop but were sticky/notchy. Why gm couldnt have used a bearing that would last over 260k miles is beyond me |
