| As long as it will fit the hole in the top of the tank is all I'm worried about. I can bend line to make it go where I want. And I don't need the return line with the Carb. I can't find a 3rd gen carb pickup anywhere. |

| First and 2nd gen fbody's have a flat tank that rests against the bottom of the trunk. Totally different shape then a 3d gen tank which is basically vertical. Unless you feel like basically totally creating the pickup yourself you need to find a 3d gen pickup. |

| Dang. Alright. Would it be possible to take out the electric pump and extend it to regular size with another piece of 3/8 and compression fittings with a sock on the end? I've seen it done but no idea how well it works. Anyone know where I could find a carb pickup? I can't find em anywhere. |

Ya you could remove the pump and put in steel line. less work then doing the other. Or you could do as the factory did and run a low pressure pump there along with the mechanical pump on the motor.
Or you could just put a tpi pump in there and then install a bypass style regulator up front. This way you don't even need the mechanical pump. Frankly this seems like the best and least complicated method to me. |

| Alright, so say I decide to drop the tank, and replace the in-tank pump with a better in-tank pump, take out the mechanical pump, and add a regulator, which ones should I go with? There's a quick-fuel regulator on summit for $20 and supports 650HP, but has 2 outlets? and quite a few in-tank pumps for about $50. Venom? ACDelco? |

| If you go the regulator route, just make sure you use a bypassing regulator and not a deadhead style. You want one that has the return line. As far as pumps go, i'm not sure what the best pumps are anymore, i've never had fuel injection so havent had to worry about it. |

Maybe I've spent too long in the woods but buying a new pump and a regulator just to avoid making a trip to the junkyard to find a carbed thirdgen seems silly to me.
But hey, it's your money, all I have is this opinion. |

Or modifying the stock one? I could go to junk yards, but that's pretty slim chances, finding a carbed 3rd gen that doesn't already have the tank pulled. Plus having to drop the rear end at the junk yard. Hell maybe I'll get lucky and find a disc brake rear end that I'll take anyway.
But seriously, how hard would it be to modify the one I have? |
