Bought an 89 k1500 350 tbi, and it threw a code 32 while driving home. Drove it around a couple times after and didn't give a code. Almost exactly like how my 88 Firebird with a 350 tbi acted. I had replaced both egr and solenoid on the firebird and it still did the problem. Then sold the car for double what i paid. So now I have this truck, and don't want to throw money at it just yet. It has headers, could those be causing an issue, and how do I get around that, change to a positive EGR? Going to check for vacuum leaks, too.

Also, it stalls randomly when going into gear or at a stop.

I got the stalling issue fixed. IAC needed to be reset. Can't find any vacuum leaks.

Going to drive it to work and see if another code 32 pops up. |

				| Try cleaning the valve and the ports before throwing parts at it. |

Stalling issue is not fixed, still does it, but only when in gear, shifting into gear, and/or turning from a stop. It does not stall if the truck is already moving. I have a sharp U-turn to get into our driveway and up a hill, and does that without stalling. But once I stop completly, and crank the wheel, or put it in D or R, it stalls. Doesn't stall all the time, but does it randomly, and at the worst times, too. Like once the light turns green, and I'm at a busy intersection. Cranks back over immediately.

Doesn't stall when engine is cold, stalls once it is warm. Bad O2 sensor? I've looked on other forums and that came up a few times. I have a used one from my GTA that worked before the header swap, going to try that.

Nice of this truck to have problems AFTER I buy it and bring it home... |

				| Checked the timing...it's waaaaay off. Won't run at 0* base timing. Looks to be at about 20+* advanced. Timing chain? |

Pulled the EST connector before playing with timing right?

You reset IAC, so it's a TPI? Did you reset the TPS afterwards? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

				EST was disconnected.

It's an 89 K1500. 350 TBI.

Yeah, I figured it probably slipped. Will have to have my dad time it by ear, he's been 100% right of all the times I've seen him do it.

Talked to a friend of my parents that's a mechanic, and given the symptoms, he said it had to be either the ignition module or pick-up coil. |
