Some of you guys visit this site and have already seen this.

That just sucks. Cant imagine investing the time, money and labor into a car and then see this happen. |

Not enough time to read the whole thread, but what was the causal failure? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| The guy naded his last engine and purchased a new GM LS6 block for this build. The block is broken and atleast one of the LPE ported Edelbrock heads may be junk also. He mentioned that it spun hard on the 1 - 2 gear shift ( Glide?) then hit the rev limiter hard in 2nd. I didnt hear a BOV, wonder how much boost it was making when the smoke / steam got out. |

Something seems weird here. He's saying that a single over-rev and bounce off the limiter was enough to split the cylinder wall and push it out?
You can hear it backfire when he steps on it, then he rolls back into it, shifts twice (presumably 2-3 and 3-4) but the coolant doesn't hit the exhaust till the top of the pull.

He has a power glide and trans brake. The popping / back fire sound is actually the two stage rev limiter. He was simulating a 1/4 mile pass on the dyno. Good thing that happened in a shop not at 150MPH.
It does look and sound like it shifted a couple of times though. He said that the tires spun hard on the dyno.
There seemed to be alot of exhaust coming out of the engine bay before it broke. |

| Ouch. That isn't good at all. Seems like there is a large area around the block that isn't supported. Do LSx engines have troubles staying together with high boost right at that spot? |
