|
| Sooooooo I've decided to make a thread on my first engine build. I just recently bought a 350 out of a 70's blazer. the machine work was already done to the block (bored .30 over) and the heads were rebuilt. (Hasn't been fired since the machine work) Right now I'm saving up for another car so I can start tearing my camaro apart so this thread is going to start out kind of slow lol. Anyways I have almost the rest of the engine parts (minus carb, oi8l pan, and gaskets) but most of the stuff will be replaced for aftermarket parts. I'll post pics when i can figure out how to downsize the size of my photos haha. |

Need casting numbers on the heads or at least close up pictures of all the numbers under the valve cover. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

And clean up that garage. You're building a motor. It's "clean work." Cleanliness is truely Godliness when working with engine internals. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

3998993 1968-79 350 1.94 / 1.5 CFM inl 150 / exh 91
3998993 1968-76 307 - 350 75cc chamber. Low performance cars & trucks
Looks like standard smog-era 350 heads with 75cc chambers and 1.94/1.5 valves. About the same as what I have on my motor for the next week or so. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

| I figure ill use them until I have enough money to get aluminum ones bi just want to get the motor built and in the car. Heads aren't that hard to change once its in the car. |

Yeah, I'm doing a head swap soon in car.
You might be happy with the power from those heads. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Your best bet with those crappy heads is to run the .015 head gasket, and clean all the casting flash up on the ports. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

And if your pistons are flattop with valve relief you should end up with an acceptable compression ratio. Using a standard .041 gasket and stock dished pistons would give you something silly like 8:1. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56
