well i haven't been on here much in the last couple years, as i have been playing with 4th gens and C5's alot. i decided i was done with that for a while and was bored so i threw a battery in my old 1LE car and pulled it out of the back of the shop and did some routine maintence and took out out for a cruise to the beach and fell in love with 3rd gen's all over again lol so i got back on the hunt for another! shortly here after i found my latest victim!

its a 1988 Camaro

LT1 swap
Tremec TKO-600 5 speed
Mcleod scatter sheild
Mcleod twin disc clutch
edelbrock headers & y pipe
3" flowmaster exhaust
SLP air foil
hypertech chip and powerstat
alumium driveshaft
koni shocks
1LE springs
hollow global west sway bars
spohn LCA's
spohn panhard
recloation brackets
13" baer brake kit!!!!!
GTA crosslace wheels
3.42 auburn posi
momo carbon fiber seats
scroth racing street harness's
1LE a/c delete
wolfe racecraft roll bar
driveshaft loop

there is probly tons i'm missing or forgetting, but anyways it's a VERY solid car, and i am already getting the project underway on this thing. it has alot of expensive and hard work done, now it just needs a few updates and refinements!

plans are to go with saftey, function, and form first. then the real power will come after.

first i am planning on adding a few few bars in the roll cage, one being a harness bar so i can safely mount the seat belts, then re mount the seats alot more solid.

then i needs to go waaaay lower! and on the CCW classics that i have had laying around looking for a home for the last year lol

then that horrendous hood needs to go somewhere lol i want to put an IROC-Z hood on it aswell as the IROC-Z sticker kit.

all in all i think it has the potential to be a really cool little hotrod!

Awesome score dude. I don't know how I didn't see this on CL. Can't wait to see it in person.

it doesn't look horrible the way it is right now, but it defintally has room for improvement! i am not a HUGE fan of the GTA's but i think they are cool for factory. i might throw them on my 92 1LE car for the hell of it! i think some iroc-z emblems and sticker kit, and hood would killer on it tho. i think the outside overall appearance of the iroc-z in all of it's glory looks pretty kick ass from the factory. then slammed completely on 18" CCW's i think will really set this car off.

i'm not going to lie, when i saw it was an LT1 i was a little iffy on it. just being how slow the majority of LT1's are in 4th gens. but with the 5 speed, and 3.42's... it's not too terribly slow! i think a set of ported heads, an LT4 intake, and a decent cam and i think this car will be plenty of power for what it is!

i'm going to go head and replace the optispark in the car this week just because it's cheap insureance! i have had trouble with them before. then i plan on driving it daily for a couple weeks just to make sure that all is well, and take care of any little issues i find before i tear into it to take on the stance part of this thing. the stance will be key in this car for me.

so i was driving it on tuesday evening and the infamous optispark decided to start throwing a temper tantrum.. So mad I can't see straight

so i decided i wasn't going to deal with all of the fantastic ignition issues that GM planted in these awesome littl engines. so i decided to take care of all of them at once!

i installed all new:

MSD pro billet Optispark
MSD 8.5mm wires
GM ICM
GM coil
NGK TR55 plugs

now it runs BEAUTIFUL and has more power than ever!

also Ron Tonkin Chev called me and my new factory grill insert is in. just need to go pick it up in the morning.

next on the list is going to be mock up the CCW's on the car and figure out what the spring / shock / strut combo is going to be.

Good deal on the shotgun optispark fix. Have you thought about one of the coil per plug conversions based on the LSx pcm? I think 91RSvert on this board is running it on a genI motor but I think they also do genII setups as well. Completely gets rid of the opti unit.

Those CCWs are hot. Very Happy

I know those CCW's are 11" front and 12" rear but what size tire do you plan on running?

probly wouldn't be toooo terribly hard to get them outta me as long as the CCW plan works out!

i have seen the coil pack setups on LT1's. i thought about it, but i figured this was gonna be waaaay easier, and lets face it. it's an LT1 it'll never make REAL power! haha

i'm just going to leave the slicks on them for now, they are almost new. then maybe some DOT hoosier race tires later??
