HA! People have recently got the idea that these POS's are goldmines.
For instance, today I called this lady:
http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/pts/2567920335.html
In the picture it looks like a defrost delete hatch. I inquire about this and she tells me it has defrost. Out of curiosity I ask about a price for the hatch and decklid anyhow:
Her: "oh maybe 275, 300 dollars."
Me: "Really?"
Her: "Oh yes, these are very rare!"
Me: "How do you figure that?"
Her: "Well they are very hard to find!"
Me: "The local Pick-N-Pull charges fifty bucks for a hatchback and they have three of them out there."
Her: *pause* "Well I see them on eBay..."
When I bought the Bananer the guy claimed he saw someone on eBay charging a grand for a hatch, and was on about how rare they were. I told him I had one leaning up against the side of my shop, and it had been on craiglist for a week at $30 with no callers!
Honestly I think these people have no interest in selling stuff, they just want to run their own little LeMay museum.
I just sold a ton of stuff to Bruce yesterday. Sure he paid me less than the eBay dips**ts think it's worth, but I have cash in my pocket, room in my shop and I didn't have to ship anything. Those three things are worth more than owning all these "valuable" parts. |
