So after a year and a half talking about it, I am doing it. Head swap. Have hood off. Going tostart disconecting things and pull motor. I am pulling motkr because I also want to do a cam swap and clean up and paint engine bay. But before I get crazy what tyles and tips and tricks does everybidy have so I dont have problems when putting it all back in.

Take your time, do it as clean as you want it the first time. Don't talk yourself into short cuts thinking "I can always fix that later" because you won't. Lol just ask these guys when you have questions!

When you paint the engine bay, don't do the stupid thing that everyone does and paint it black. Paint it gloss white instead. Far easier to see and work in.

Yes. I saw a bearded man do that once. And ibthought thatvwas clever.

I would make sure to label things and take pictures.

I have been lablin. Pics I didnt do because phone didnt have enough juice and nkt enough flash. I do apologisd in advance for questions that may seem dumb or obvious, but I have never done this. And not as knowledgable or good as you guys. quesyions like this. Should I leave carb and manifold attached? Do I need to mark where distributer is. I am assuming it will not be same when I put back in. and the great question on tgo. Should I pull with or with out tranny.

I always pull them with the transmission attached personally. Never had a problem doing that with a good hoist and load leveler.

I pull with the intake manifold still on usually, use the accessory bolt holes in the heads to lift by.

K. So should I remove accesorries?

I would. I usually leave the waterpump and crank pulley on though.

I love the white engine bay. I gktta tell ya, those bearded fellas may have slmetbing strange and sinister abkut them, but they sure know thier automobile machines

I,do agree,on the whole white car thing, I hate white cars. But thr brigjt engine bay is appealing. I need to figure out color combi for block and heads now

Here's a novel idea: How about painting the engine bay the same color as the rest of the car? Or is that against the third gen owner code of conduct or something?
