I guess after thinking about it, the exhaust test woukd be best. Because I woukd assume if craked head or gasket is causing the overheating which OS fine

Thoughast time on freeway at,night was fine. So I guess perhaps ill do all tests

Yeah, but that tester isn't cheaper. Cheaper and more useful to buy a cooling system pressure test kit. It comes with different radiator adapters and a gauge with a hand pump on it. You can use it as I stated just to read pressure in the cooling system, or you can hand pump it with the engine off, and watch if pressure drops indicating a leak, and you can spot external leaks better.

Each test could possibly find a leaking head gasket that the other potentially wouldn't. The exhaust test is cheap if you rent the tool from a parts store. I assume you can rent the pressure tester as well although I have never needed to test that theory.

Never needed the exhaust presence tester. The Gauge tells you all you need to know. You don't get combustion gas into the cooling system without building pressure. The combustion tester will not tell you anything the gauge wont.

I guess if its a head r gasket I am not that concerned, as I need to start swap.soon. I am more concernedif oys another issue

Worst issue you could have is a headgasket in this case, otherwise cracked head/block which is less likely.

Anything else it could be, which leaves radiator low on coolant or a stuck closed thermostat are super easy.

Also. Iys having a hard time keeping its idle up. Could,this be related?

I am still learning . I do alot if reading but alot if it contradicts itself. Now if u hadnt jusy done timing it wouldbe easeir for me to decide and if when I was messing with carb I didnt somehow get linkage stuck so secondaries wouldnt open, which I determined later was my bogging issue. So I dont know if issues know are because of what I did or just happening. Amother problem is I tend to over analysise, ans want everyrhimg oerfect. Basically I want to be able to build an engine loke you huys but onlu have 1% of the knowledge.

Ah yes. Testing.. I actually started cleaning up heads laat night. But now I need to have them checked for cracks.
