For those of you that followed me in the GTA on Saturday, and noticed one of my wheels was wobbling. Thanks. I put the car up on jack stands today, and fired it up. I am attaching a video of the results, but spoiler alert, both wheels are wobbling.

I have attached a video. Sorry for my shitty camera work, it was hard to show both tires in the one video.

So what do you guys think, Is there any way I could have done this when pulling the axles three weeks ago? Could I hgave knocked a bearing loose on both sides, or something? I doubt both wheels are bent, If anything I would think both axles were bent, I did buy it from QuasiTraction after all (ZING!). All thoughts welcome.

Figured it out. Well Chris (Quasitraction) actually had it right yesterday. I converted a 28 spline drum rear to disc brakes. When Twilightoptics, Quasitraction and I did this to Twilightoptic's car a few years back we ran into trouble, his drum axle flanges would not fit inside his disc brake hats. Well I test fit mine and they fit fine. So I bolted the whole mess together and called it a day.

Not so much though, They do not fit. The discs sat on the axle ends juuuust a little crooked, not quite fitting true. This put the wheels out of alignment, causing the brake rubbing I have been experiencing. I attributed the scraping noise to a rusty sections on the center of the brake disc that extended into the braking surface, I had a similar noise the last time I had these brakes ont he car with the nine bolt, though it was not as bad.

So long story short I need to have my axles machined down, or get different brake discs (they make a different style disc that will clear). Guess which option I'm going to choose.
Here is the picture of the two rotors side by side. Off to NAPA to score some new Rotors, mine need to be turned anyway, screw it.

Big props to Chris (Quasitraction) for diagnosing the issue on the first glance.

Wasn't there a bent axle at a past gathering as well? You don't have good luck with axles!

Glad you got it figured out though.

Yeah,
Thanks for the heads up team! I just got home with the new rotors, going to instal now. Then I am going to make a victory burnout, but not in my garage, that would be silly... but awesome.

Everything is all back together, No more wobbling wheels. I put new pads on as well. The E-Brake on this setup SUCKS. The cables have little tension springs on them, with those fully collapsed I will still roll down the driveway. I want my E-Brake to be able to lock the tires while the car is doing 30MPH, you know, for reasons.

Do disc brake E-brakes just not do that?

The awesome part is it didn't stop Tony from doing a big smokey burnout on his way to pick up his other car! Laughing

If the wheels will still spin you can do a burnout.

Heck, this guy manages a burnout on a lift with no wheels or tires.

You CAN do a burnout, it just isn't necessarily advisable! Very Happy

That's the whole thing with the actual axle hub with the drums VS Disc, the drum hubs have a little more material on them than the Disc ones. and have to be milled down (ideally with a bit of a taper) to get them to fit true.

Also check the lateral play of the shafts themselves inside the housing (with the C-clips in) I don't remember the tolerance, but that can effect it as well. usually its bad bearings on the ends of the housing.

did you have to change over the flanges on the ends of the housing? IIRC drum and disc are different, so that could be suspect as well.

I used an adapter kit to make the discs go onto the drum rear. The rear end itself will still accept drum brakes should I ever desire to switch back.
