It needs a little work here and there but is a good truck. My Dad has owned it since 2005. It's a lowered SWB '85 C10. It has a mild 350 with a QuadraJet and a TH350 trans. Still a corporate 10-bolt open rear end. It's a bit of an oddly optioned Silverado, with no power locks or windows.

Some problems I will be fixing soon:
Pulse wipers are funky. Still works correctly in Hi/Lo.
Heater won't blow anywhere but vents.
Shocks are done. Needs new ones all around.

After I tackle those things it's time for some cosmetics:
Steering wheel is a worn out Grant GT, needs replaced.
Seat cover is starting to tear and is stained. Need a new one.
Door panels and dash could use some re-gluing of trim and other cosmetics.
Mirrors are starting to rust, could use some new ones.
Repaint some trim here and there, like the windshield trim.

About time that happened, Gabe. Cool

Need to fix suspension back to a reasonable height before anything else. Otherwise why have a truck? Pokey pokey

The suspension is perfectly reasonable. It would ruin the look to bring it back up. Razz Sure, a few hundred pounds in the bed puts it on the bumpstops, but they're soft comfy bumpstops. Laughing

Don't mind my flack. Laughing It will surely make a better hauler than the Grandma-Roo.

Speaking of which, are you sending it down the road (thus proving Kate right) or are you going back to four-car madness?

Just air-bag it, so you can pump it up when you haul stuff.

We've debated this 1000 times. 2wd lower, 4x4 lift.

It's never getting lifted back up in my ownership. Very Happy

I was considering adding airbags for hauling situations, but honestly I won't be hauling stuff very often anyway. I'll think about it, they are pretty cheap. I've been poring over the LMC catalog all day. Laughing

At this point I am keeping all 3 of my cars plus Kate's Subaru. So 4 cars in my driveway right now, but we are considering selling one of the Subarus.

Yep, this one has A/C, pulse wipers, cruise control, dual tanks, etc. Just no power locks or windows. Just the way I like it.

I was checking things out today and found a clean title history with WA registration back to 1987. Makes sense since it has absolutely 0 rust. It's been registered in Olympia, Chehalis, Westport for a short while and now up here with me. Another small oddity is that it was built at the Oshawa plant in Canada, which I believe was fairly rare for US-delivered trucks.

Sorry to disappoint but quite a few of those 80's C-series trucks start with '2' on the VIN. Union dodging and all. Razz

It's still unionized up there though, they have the CAW right?
I guess I just haven't seen very many Canada-built C/K-Series trucks, and it surprised me a little when this one was Oshawa.

Anyway, I'm still having fun, been driving it to work every day. I need to give it some love this weekend and get the little things sorted out. Another issue I noticed is that the choke sets once then comes off as soon as the truck is started and running, so I need to look at that since it makes it a bit of a handful to keep running when its still cold. Have to two-foot brake it a bit for a mile or two.

Nice looking truck! Parts haulers come in handy. I know my s10 has. Even still, I don't need three vehicles and am already selling mine. Laughing (I'd probably keep it if it were 4x4 for winter...)

I think he put the carb on in the summer, so probably yes. It's a reman Q-Jet from a couple years ago. Luckily my favorite type of carb, and the one I have the most experience tuning so I should be able to make everything as right as rain. I never thought I would want to own another carbureted vehicle, but I guess it's time to break out the old timing light, vacuum gauge and screwdriver set. Laughing I want to get a tach in this thing one way or another as well.

You're selling your S10 already Ian? My plan is to get the Camaro running soon and split DD duties between the truck and Camaro. I am undecided on keeping the Subaru, but it's such a nice car to have around that I might as well keep it. It costs me peanuts to insure and it's nice to have the AWD car around still. I need to figure out some storage for it though if I keep it, like renting a spot at a storage facility or something. My house definitely does not have enough room for permanent 4-car parking.

That engine was a bit of a time bomb, so I think Gabe picked the right time to unload it, but it was a cool car. For a mild sedan commuter that thing would put you in the back seat if you stood on it. Laughing
